Alicia Silverstone Is A Raw Snickrz Kind Of Girl

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, May 14th, 2009 in Actresses, Business, Chefs, Food & Drink, Restaurants.

Stormbreaker - UK Film PremiereVegan desserts are a weakness for anyone. From Uncle Eddie’s cookies to So Delicious Ice Cream to Amy’s new vegan cakes, you could easily rack up the grocery bill is sugar coated goodies and forget all the other “essentials” you came for.

Alicia Silverstone apparently is just as mortal as the rest of us and is a big fan of “Snickrz,” a cake made with chocolate, peanut butter, caramel and nuts.

We know this because raw foods chef Stephen Hauptfuhr has told all to the Los Angeles Times blog. Hauptfuhr opened a raw vegan foods catering company, Mooi, after hosting dozens of dinner parties at  his home and realizing that he could charge his friends, but he could make even more money charging others (haha, uh, we added that last revelation).

Some items on his catering menu include beet fettuccine with cilantro pesto and chocolate chili tacos with marinated greens

Oh, yeah, let’s not forget about the desserts, which are sold at the Elf cafe in LA (makes us think the Keebler elves went vegan and quit to work for someone else).

Soon Hauptfuhr will be opening his own cafe.

Gordon Ramsay Going Vegetarian For Great Escape To India

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, May 10th, 2009 in Chefs.

2009 White House Correspondents Association DinnerWe joked around on April Fool’s day when we announced the Hell’s Kitchen star Gordon Ramsay had went vegetarian after accidentally electrocuting himself. But this time, it’s for real, if only temporary.

Ramsay has signed up for a vegetarian tour of India and his experiences will be shown as a reality TV show, Gordon’s Great Escape, on UK Channel 4.

From Uknetguide.co.uk:

“Since coming to prominence in the TV guides, the chef has never shied away from criticising vegetarianism, with non meat-eaters having borne the brunt of his sharp tongue on more than one occasion.”

“As such, it’s hardly a surprise that producers have decided it would be a good idea to see how the committed carnivore gets on when deprived of his regular meaty fixes, with the forthcoming show ‘Gordon’s Great Escape’ set to follow Ramsay as he embarks on a vegetarian exploration of India.”

How will Gordon get along without his “meaty” fix? Will it make him even more aggressive and hostile towards vegetarians upon his return? Or will he gain an appreciation of diet, after experiencing the spices and flavors that can be combined to create a palatable, meat-free dish?

The show could only get more entertaining if vegan hating Anthony Bourdain tagged along.

Guy Fieris Bring It T-ON-G Grilling Challenge

If you’re looking for the next vegetarian Food Network cook, keep driving past Guy Fieri.

This Guy (pun intended) is so repulsed by that diet that he started fending for himself at a very young age to avoid his parents’ cooking.

From People.com:

“My parents were into macrobiotic cooking—vegetarian, nondairy, whole grains, no red meat. I started cooking when I was 10 because I just couldn’t eat that stuff.”

Guy’s story brings up an important area of discussion many have over the question of forcing a vegetarian diet on their children.

Should veg parents make their kids follow the lifestyle too? At least until they’re old enough to make their own decisions about their food (or old enough to earn money to buy their own groceries?)?

Hell’s Kitchen Ben Thinks Tuna Is Vegetarian

Take a good look at this man, folks. If he is preparing your vegetarian meal, run away and don’t eat it.

Twenty-six year old Ben from Chicago, IL is the latest contestant to burn in Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen.

After last week’s performance, we’re not surprised.

You see, Ben asked Gordon if a vegetarian salad needed tuna.

The question resulted in a slew of tirades from Ramsay, but Ben just didn’t get it.

Later to the camera, Ben boasts the only reason Ramsay yelled at him is because Ramsay see him as a potential winner in the contest.

Maybe Ben himself has been eating too much tuna like Jeremy Piven and is suffering from some sort of mental confusion from mercury poisoning.

The UK Hell’s Kitchen is back, full of celebrity cooking adventures.

One contestant on the show is Ms. Dynamite, born Niomi McLean Daley, an award winning hip hop singer and rapper.

Depending on the challenges given, Ms. Dynamite might have some performance problems on the show, given the fact that she recently turned vegetarian.

“Once I started to cut down on the meat and dairy products, it started to improve – it was all down to vanity, to be honest,” she told the UK Daily Mail.

“I don’t want to get on my high horse about it but I do feel a lot healthier in my diet. I don’t think I would struggle to cook meat during the show but gutting and skinning an animal would be a different story.”

Vegetarian hatin’ Gordon Ramsay started the UK Hell’s Kitchen, then left to run the famous U.S version. What’s fun about the UK version is that celebrities are the contestants.

The new series of Hell’s Kitchen starts next week in the UK on ITV1.

Gordon Ramsay Goes Vegetarian After Electrocuting Himself

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 in Chefs.

Gordon Ramsey Signs Copies of Gordon Ramseys Healthy Appetite

Gordon Ramsay, the celebrity chef notorious for his not so kind remarks about vegetarians and vegetarian food has become a vegetarian.

If you recall us telling you, Gordon’s hatred of vegetarians was so passionate, he once said he’d put his children on a fence and electrocute them if they adopted the diet.

That has changed.

When Gordon’s wife Tana, announced she was becoming vegetarian and that should would force the diet on the children, Gordon was less than pleased.

“I couldn’t believe after so many years of marriage, she would betray me like this,” Ramsay said, according to Chef Gossip Daily. “So, I decided to put her on the electric fence and electrocute her to prevent anything like this from happening to my seeds.”

While trying to put his wife on the electric fence, Gordon managed to shock himself. The great pain he experienced brought him to an epiphany-like state where he suddenly had more compassion for animals and wanted a healthier diet for himself and his family.

“I’m just glad it wasn’t anal electrocution like those poor animals on fur farms receive,” Gordon said, rubbing his bum to emphasize how painful that would have been.

Now every evening, Gordon likes to cook vegetarian food with his wife Tana. The children are found of tofu, but Gordon prefers they eat seitan, because it “sounds more devilish” and he hates for anyone to think he’s softened in any other area than his diet.

Note: This story is a bunch of vegan hogwash. But it’s April 1st, so what were you expecting?
