Alec Baldwin will be co-hosting an event for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a group of doctors and other individuals who promote a vegan diet for better health.

The Research without Cruelty event will feature Baldwin with PCRM founder Dr. Neal Barnard and Dennis Erdman, cruelty-free cocktails and discussion about animal welfare in medicine.

Marilu Henner was crowned grilling champion in the contest sponsored by Live with Kelly that pitted her vegan portobello entree against Ashanti’s chicken dish.

The celebrities were competing for their favorite charities and Henner won $25,000 for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, an organization promoting plant-based diets as a solution to many of today’s common health problems like heart disease, diabetes and obesity.

John Salley can be seen on various billboards in the Detroit area as part of a campaign by VegMichigan, a non-profit organization promoting a plant-based diet for better health of people, animals and the environment.

Rob Thomas and his wife Marisol have donated over a quarter of a million dollars to an animal shelter in Puerto Rico.

Pet’s Alive, received the donation in two parts: $125,000 from the Thomases personally and $225,000 from their charitable organization, the Sidewalk Angels Foundation.

“We were doing rescue there remotely,” said Marisol. “And we realized there was really a need there. I wanted to see a real change happen on the island.”
