Olivia Munn and vegan comedian Myq Kaplan are just two well-known funny stars with a love for animals that are headlining Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary’s Comedy for Karma IV on Tuesday, April 05, 2011.

The event is an annual fundraiser for the sanctuary which is home to dozens of chickens, pigs, cows, goats and other rescued farm animals that are available to interact with and get to know during its touring season.

—Ellen DeGeneres, on accepting the PETCO Foundation’s HOPE Award given to public figures that promote the bond between humans and animals. The awards ceremony will be held in San Diego, California on April 30, 2011. DeGeneres is the co-owner of Halo Pet Food, a natural line of food for animals containing only human-grade ingredients. Last year, Halo partnered with several non-profit organizations like Freekibble, The Humane Society of the US, ASPCA, Pets for Patriots, and The National Canine Cancer Foundation to donate 1 million pet meals to over 100 shelters across the United States.

What’s better than a vegan eating good? A vegan doing good!

Former CNN anchor who once reported on downer pigs getting into the food supply and current CNBC anchor Nicole Lapin recently celebrated her 27th birthday by achieving her goal to raise money for Girl Up. Girl Up is a campaign of the United Nations Foundation that encourage American girls to empower girls in Ethiopia, Guatemala, Liberia, and Malawi by donating to the campaign that assists in purchasing school supplies, building essential facilities like health clinics and promoting the end to practices that hurt women.

Model Vida Guerra has shot a pro-vegetarian advertisement for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and is offering lucky viewers a chance to see exclusive, behind the scenes footage of her making the ad by donating to PETA.

Of course, it’s PETA, so viewers are guaranteed to see some skin!

Guerra chose to set up the donation site for her birthday, which is March 19, and is asking fans to give a gift to PETA’s efforts to promote vegetarianism and save animals instead of sending her cards, flowers and other gifts.

Michelle Obama is penning a book about the White House Garden and her efforts to ingrain healthier eating habits in Americans.

The book is untitled as of now and Crown Publishing Group, a unit of Random House publishers, has set a release date for April 2012. Inside readers will find Obama family recipes and photos of not only the White House Garden, but gardens from communities and schools all over the United States.
