Quantcast Vegetarian StarMeatless Mouthful–Ellen DeGeneres On PETCO Foundation HOPE Award

“I wish we lived in a world where caring for animals wasn’t so rare that it deserved an award. All I do is treat animals with the respect and dignity they deserve. I hope someday soon, everyone does the same. PETCO and the PETCO Foundation have made great efforts to protect animals and I commend them for going above and beyond the call of duty.”

Ellen DeGeneres, on accepting the PETCO Foundation’s HOPE Award given to public figures that promote the bond between humans and animals. The awards ceremony will be held in San Diego, California on April 30, 2011. DeGeneres is the co-owner of Halo Pet Food, a natural line of food for animals containing only human-grade ingredients. Last year, Halo partnered with several non-profit organizations like Freekibble, The Humane Society of the US, ASPCA, Pets for Patriots, and The National Canine Cancer Foundation to donate 1 million pet meals to over 100 shelters across the United States.
