Russell Simmons Discusses Argyleculture Clothing Line

A common complaint from vegan and ethical men is that there aren’t enough professional lines that happen to be cruelty free. That may have changed recently.

Russell Simmons will launch a line of men’s clothing at Macy’s stores called Argyleculture. The site for the brand is still under construction, but a look at some of the attire at Elle shows a variety of styles suited for the office, golf course or club.

Simmons spoke to Ecouterre about his new line, which keeps vegan principles he’s adhered to for years.

Kesha is once again raising her voice for the animals.

The vegetarian and spokesperson for the Humane Society International has written a letter to the CEO of McDonald’s Corp., Jim Skinner, asking that he bring the fast food giant’s slaughter practices up to date.

Although restaurants in the U.K. and Europe have already implemented a chicken slaughter practice that involves slowly putting the birds to sleep, the U.S. still lags behind.

Chrissie Hynde Veg Restaurant Closes. New One May Open Soon.

Chrissie Hynde has closed the vegetarian restaurant she opened approximately four years ago in her hometown of Akron, Ohio, The Vegiterranean.

The singer posted a farewell message on the restaurant’s Facebook page.

“It’s is with great regret that The VegiTerranean in downtown Akron has closed it doors for the last time,” Hynde wrote.

“This has been a labor of love for us for the last four years. We tried everything we could to keep the restaurant going but unfortunately due to the current economic climate this has not been possible.”

PepsiCo, the corporation behind several brands of snacks, will be working to help Ethiopia farmers increase their chickpea production.

7-Eleven has expanded the number of stores that offer ready-made, deli style vegan meals.

A pilot program was launched months earlier in select New York locations, and now more vegans on the East Coast can enjoy delicious entress like Vegan Linguine Tikka Massala, Vegan Pad Thai Noodles, Vegan Asian Linguine and Vegan Spinach Noodles with Vegetable.

“Great Food Truck Race” Gets Veganized This Month (Video)

Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race premieres on Sunday, August 14th at 10pm ET/PT.

As previously reported, this season’s race features a vegan truck ran by Nicole Daddona, Stephanie Morgan and Raya Belna.

“This truck came to life with a dream and a desire: A dream for vegan street food, and a desire to provide healthy, local food that’s convenient and fairly priced,” said Stephanie Morgan, founder of Seabirds. “Orange County is a great place to live, but it was lacking quality choices for those wishing to consume a healthier, plant-based diet. I started Seabirds because I wanted to make a difference not only in the lives of the people of Orange County, but in the world we love and live in.”

Nicki Minaj was caught gobbling up vegetarian food at Atlanta’s Sunflower Cafe.

The restaurant Tweeted what the singer ate.

“We had Ms. @NickiMinaj in the house tonight! She had the Crispy Fried Okra, Steamed Dumplings, and of course Sesame Soy Chicken.”

The restaurant that’s been serving tasty dishes like Walnut Toasted Orzo Cutlet, Spring Quinoa and Stuffed Acorn Squash was voted one of the “10 Great Places To Eat With An Easy Conscience” by USA Today and a winner of the 2009 Vegetarian Times Dining Out Awards.
