Jayson Williams Pleads Not Guilty To Manslaughter

Jayson Williams may be getting the freshest, local produce available in New Jersey while he serves his sentence for aggravated assault in the death of a limo driver.

TMZ reports that the Mid-State Correctional Facility in Wrightstown, New Jersey participates in the Jersey Fresh program, meaning if Williams eats the colorful parts of his plate, he’ll consume locally grown fruits and vegetables.

Developed in 1983, the Jersey Fresh program was designed to help farmers advertise their locally grown items to residents of the state, according to the State of New Jersey Department of Agriculture website.

Initially a radio advertising program, methods of disseminating the news has spread to billboards, television and print ads reminding consumers to support their local farmers.

Now that’s a can’t-get-it-out-of-your-head jingle worth remembering.

Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic - Team Practices

Red Sox fans will have additional options while enjoying future games at Fenway Park.

ARAMARK has helped one of America’s famous ballparks expand its vegetarian menu to include a new veggie burger, veggie hot dog, and a spinach and mozzarella Stromboli.

These changes come to an already vegetarian friendly menu offering veggie pizzas, burritos, hummus and fruit cups.

An expanding menu is just one of the numerous changes made to the facility, some of which include improved restroom facilities and easier access between different areas of the parks with more stairways.

Larry Lucchino, president and chief executive officer of the Red Sox called this year’s improvements “less sexy than in the past but very appealing to some of our fans.”

Considering the saturated fat and cholesterol in so many meat foods sold in ballpark vending areas that can lead to obesity, fatigue and erectile dysfunction, making healthier vegetarian foods available to Red Sox fans and even fans of their opponents sounds like a very sexy thing to do.

Gordon Ramsay traveled to Boco Raton, Florida in a recent episode of Kitchen Nightmares to clean up the menu and kitchen at Anna Vincenzo’s Italian restaurant.

As part of the grand reopening of the eatery, Anna Vincenzo’s held a celebrity pizza making contest, where athletes from the Miami Dolphins, Miami Heat and Florida Panthers had to construct the perfect pizza in 3 minutes.

Non meat eating Miami Heat forward James Jones won’t touch the pizza he made for the judges because he put meat on it thinking it would impress them and said he didn’t know what else to put on it, even though tubs of veggies like mushrooms and peppers can be seen in the clip.

Such a shame, considering the vegetarian pizzas on Anna Vincenzo’s menu outnumber the meat ones 5:3!

Guess more Floridians are impressed with meat-free after all.

Carol Leifer Or Herschel Walker–Who Would You

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, March 24th, 2010 in Athletes-Games-Sports, Comedians, Reality TV.

Celebrity Apprentice hasn’t been too nice to vegetarians, as the potential CEOs have been given the “You’re Fired” order with neither a fruit basket nor a severance package.

This season comedian Carol Leifer was the first to go (but she did squeeze some money out of Donald for an animal charity), while Herschel Walker got the pink slip after he failed trying to make executive decisions about chicken when he doesn’t even eat it.

Better luck next time guys.

A business lunch is still available. Between the two contestants, who would you rather do…

World Series Game 6 -- Phillies at Yankees

As previously reported, Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies has added more veggie hotdog stands so those that aren’t into eating dozens of animal parts rolled into one frank don’t have to walk as far for a snack.

To add to the excitement, the Phillies are holding a voting contest to name the Signature Hot Dog of Citizens Bank Park.

There are three creations to choose from and the winning version can dress a vegetarian hot dog in addition to an all beef one.

Sweet!

And these varieties aren’t your standard ketchup, mustard and relish.

The South Philly Dog comes with broccoli rabe, spicy roasted peppers and sharp provolone on a crusty Italian roll. Olde Philadelphia Dog is topped with Amish pepper hash, dill pickle and yellow mustard on a poppy seed roll. The CBP Summer Dog is a spicy variety with tomato and pickle relish and ancho pepper sauce on a pretzel roll.

ANY of these combinations have the potential to be made with a veggie dog!

Voting takes place here starting Monday, closes on April 4, with the winner announced on April 12.

Baseball and hotdogs go hand in hand in tradition.

The herbivores aren’t getting left out on this one.
