Meatless Mouthful–Constance Marie Spreads The Organic Word

“A secret lil’ thing I like to do to spread the organic word is to purposely walk into a store, find the manager or sales person and ask them point blank if they have any green or organic versions of their products. When the answer is, “Um … Well … No” I say, “Oh! Bummer I really wanted an organic version of (whatever they sell).” It isn’t a lie, I really do! Then I leave.”

“I know, I know, sounds crazy! But then again, maybe not so much? If stores and vendors know there is a demand for organic products, they will make them. The more they make, the more the cost comes down. Babies will have better products and everybody will be happy. We can all do that and become what I call “easy greeny mommies.”

NEW YORK - MAY 18: Actress Jane Lynch poses with cheerleaders during The Glee Cheerleaders exclusive performance at Fox's Upfront presentation at New York City Center on May 18, 2009 in New York City. (Photo by Amy Sussman/Getty Images for Fox)

Jane Lynch, who plays the cunning and caustic cheerleading coach on the Fox television series Glee, would rather beat the crap out of Vocal Adrenaline than an animal.

Her character, Sue Sylvester, had a few lines on the Mash Up episode that originally threatened Glee coach Will Schuester by letting him bond with a cat before ending its life.

Um, yeah, even if this is television, that doesn’t belong in any conversation.

“I’m not going to say that,” Lynch said of her lines. “I work for PETA. I can’t say kill the cat.”

The script was changed to reflect adopting an animal from a shelter and punching Schuester instead. Nice work!

“I’ll need to see the set list for sectionals, after all. I want them on my desk warm from the laminator at 5 p.m. If it is one minute late, I will go to the animal shelter and get you a kitty cat. I will let you fall in love with that kitty cat. And then on some dark, cold night, I will steal away into your home and punch you in the face.”

French Fries To Go is an award winning documentary that follows the journey to convert the first city bus in the nation to 100% biodiesel from used vegetable oil. If you’re interested in driving a vehicle fueled by veggie oil that doesn’t require a chauffeur’s license, there are numerous vegetable oil conversion kits that are reviewed here, which can either be installed yourself or by a mechanic.

You may also have questions about what your investment in converting such a vehicle will do.

Frybrid, one of the manufacturers of such a kit, has provided a Q & A section on their website to answer your burning questions such as “Will this void my warranty?” to “Which vehicles are the best candidates for vegetable oil conversion?

LOS ANGELES, CA - APRIL 20: Actress Bryce Dallas Howard arrives at 'The Losers' Premiere at Grauman's Chinese Theatre on April 20, 2010 in Hollywood, California. (Photo by Jason Merritt/Getty Images)

Bryce Dallas Howard revealed to Self Magazine that she took to eating meat again on the advice of a medical “professional.”

“I actually had a rare condition that was triggered by pregnancy, where consuming the amino acids from meat became critical to my health. My doctor sat me down and finally said, “Bryce, you need to choose between your ethics and your future.” The transition was emotional, but I was grateful to my doctor for putting things in perspective for me, and I’m grateful that I can still appreciate where my food comes from.”

Bryce doesn’t mention the name of her medical condition, but unless you’re allergic to soy, the old myth that only meat contains all necessary amino acids is as phony as the “vegetarian” vampires in Eclipse.
