He recently succumbed to the cancer he had fought so fiercely.

During his last years on Earth, Ebert gave two thumbs up to a plant-based diet, giving praise for films like Forks Over Knives and discussing the vegetarian dishes he created for his cookbook, The Pot.

The cartoon depicting the daily lives of clownfish and other marine animals may be the perfect opportunity to teach children and movie goers of all ages a lesson that–although not able to communicate like the fish in films–fish are living creatures that should not be eaten.

Bill Gates is praising flexitarian diets and faux meat products in a feature on his personal blog, The Gates Notes.

Topics discussed in “The Future of Food” include the decline in meat consumption, the need to reduce meat intake for environmental impact, faux meat companies and an interview with Michael Pollan.

Meat lovers may benefit from the influx of vegetarian meat companies.

Gates sampled such products and was convinced a faux chicken cutlet was the real thing.

Ryan Gosling has written a letter to the National Milk Federation that urges the organization to reconsider the practice of dehorning calves.

“Dehorning is one of the most painful things done to cows on dairy farms, whether it is by burning a calf with a searing hot iron or applying caustic paste to create a chemical burn that eats away at the animal’s flesh,” writes Gosling.
