Dirt Candy A Cookbook

Amanda Cohen‘s cookbook, Dirt Candy: A Cookbook: Flavor-Forward Food from the Upstart New York City Vegetarian Restaurant, is set for release in August.

The book combines vegetable-based recipes with comics on chefs, cooking and cuisine. Some of those comics contained in the owner of New York’s esteemed vegetable restaurant and Iron Chef competitor’s book were previewed in 2010, and now, a few more sneak peaks are available from Eater.

Sandra Seifert has been crowned the Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity in the Phillipines, based on a poll conducted by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

“Meat production has a devastating impact on the environment,” said Seifert.

“With so many alternatives to meat available, it’s easier than ever to enjoy great food while saving animals and the Earth. Going vegetarian is the best thing that we can do to save the planet!”

Kids’ meals aren’t necessarily associated with healthy eating. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine verified this when it surveyed a number of restaurants offering children’s meals and noted several nutritional factors about the meal, including calorie, fat and sodium content.

Many people associate chicken as being healthier than beef, but PCRM dietitians revealed that a Chick-fil-A Kids Grilled Nuggets Kids Meal contains the same amount of cholesterol as a Big Mac.
