PETA is currently holding its Sexiest Vegetarian Next Door contest.

Shelly Martinez has the adorable, “girl next door look,” but her familiarity to you may be more than just her classic features.

Martinez is a former WWE Diva who worked under the World Wrestling Entertainment’s ECW brand under the name “Ariel” and for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling under the name “Salinas.”

White House Easter Egg Roll Is Hen Friendly

The annual White House Easter Egg Roll is taking place on Monday, April 25.

Following in the footsteps of the First Lady’s “Let’s Move!” initiative for better fitness, this year’s roll has a theme of “Get Up and Go!” and will feature live music, cooking demonstrations, sports courts and some pretty cool animal-free eggs.

Sodexo Expands Meatless Mondays

After a successful launch of its Meatless Monday initiative in almost 1,000 hospitals, Sodexo, one of the U.S.’s largest corporate suppliers of food services, is expanding the program to 2,000 more clients, including Toyota, Northern Trust Bank and the U.S. Department of the Interior.

Celebrities Get Vegan Queso For Earth Day

Several vegan celebrities are having the pleasuring of receiving complimentary samples of what it called the world’s first vegan queso.

In honor of Earth Day, Food for Lovers, producers of the World’s First Vegan Queso, has been selected by celebrity gifting company, Distinctive Assets, to distribute the vegan cheesy substitute to celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres and Alicia Silverstone this week.

Dexter star Julie Benz, Eva Longoria and Alyssa Milano are sending Tweets out in support of a petition to make animal cruelty a more severely punishable crime.

“Please sign… Will You Support Harsher Penalties For Animal Abuse? Need 5,000 signatures lets make a difference together!” Benz Tweeted, with a link to the petition during a Twitter message.

The petition started after the publicity that generated when a woman allegedly threw a dog 19 stories down a garbage chute and left him for dead.

Chipotle Founder Steve Ells Is A Meat Reducer

Those who weren’t familiar with Steve Ells before tuning in to America’s Next Great Restaurant were probably at least familiar with his Mexican restaurant chain, Chipotle.

Ells is trying to make Chipotle as sustainable as possible, sourcing local ingredients and aiming for organic when available.

Ells, a meat eater, is concerned with the destruction large scale farms have done in terms of both environmental impact and animal cruelty. That’s why not only is he sourcing Chipotle’s pork from a network of smaller farmers who pledge to treat animals better and do not use hormones or antibiotics, he’s also working to lessen the amount of meat he eats.
