With due dates later this year, both women are still very much eating for two and could no doubt devour an enormous veggie burger.

Dexter star Julie Benz, Eva Longoria and Alyssa Milano are sending Tweets out in support of a petition to make animal cruelty a more severely punishable crime.

“Please sign… Will You Support Harsher Penalties For Animal Abuse? Need 5,000 signatures lets make a difference together!” Benz Tweeted, with a link to the petition during a Twitter message.

The petition started after the publicity that generated when a woman allegedly threw a dog 19 stories down a garbage chute and left him for dead.

It’s something that boggles the mind of vegetarian actress Alyssa Milano.

“I’m not sure I understand, how in this day & age, some designers still use real fur in their collections,” Milano wrote on her Twitter account. “I mean, really?”

As a fashion designer herself, Milano knows how to be both chic and cruel-free.

She has a line of women’s sportswear called Fandalia that features tops, hoodies, jackets and pants with logos and designs that show support for major NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and NCAA sports teams.

For their anniversary, Alyssa Milano‘s husband gave her the gift of fresh, locally grown food without harmful pesticides to the environment.

“For our one-year anniversary, my husband built me an organic vegetable garden,” Milano said, according to MNN. “I’m so obsessed with it.We just had our first salad, and it was absolutely scrumptious.”

The vegetarian with several rescue dogs is said to grow several vegetables including arugula, spinach, green beans, broccoli and tomatoes.

In some regions in the world, gardening is the last project to start, as snow and ice have already covered the ground. Organic Gardening has an online guide which gives tips for gardening, from planting to protecting plants during adverse conditions to harvesting, depending on your region in the United States.
