For their anniversary, Alyssa Milano‘s husband gave her the gift of fresh, locally grown food without harmful pesticides to the environment.

“For our one-year anniversary, my husband built me an organic vegetable garden,” Milano said, according to MNN. “I’m so obsessed with it.We just had our first salad, and it was absolutely scrumptious.”

The vegetarian with several rescue dogs is said to grow several vegetables including arugula, spinach, green beans, broccoli and tomatoes.

In some regions in the world, gardening is the last project to start, as snow and ice have already covered the ground. Organic Gardening has an online guide which gives tips for gardening, from planting to protecting plants during adverse conditions to harvesting, depending on your region in the United States.

ESPN the Magazine Presents 7th Annual Pre-Draft Party - Arrivals

Alyssa Milano is a real vegetarian, but her co-star Josh Larson‘s character, Shawn, tried to fake being one to pick up a girl on a recent episode of Romantically Challenged.

Who knew vegetarian pick up lines existed?

Shawn was supposed to pick Perry up from the dentist, but instead he meets a chick and pretends to be the handsome meatless chap who knows how to solve the water crisis in India.

Perry is left dialing for a cab, talking from the one side of his mouth that’s operable.

If you’re going to use vegetarian points to snag the girl, at least arm yourself with some good facts about meat, plant crops and water, courtesy of Greenpeace.

  • “It can take up to 15 times as much water to produce animal protein as it does to produce protein from plants. According to author John Robbins in his book The Food Revolution, you could save more water by not eating a pound of California beef than you could by not showering for an entire year.”
  • “Livestock operations generate roughly 130 times as much bodily waste as the entire human population of the United States, which makes its way into the environment without going through the sewage treatment systems found in our cities and towns. This untreated waste pollutes American waterways more than all other industrial sources combined.”

Alyssa Milano heads home after dining out at the STK steakhouse in West Hollywood

Alyssa Milano and her husband David Bugliari were spotted having dinner at the Sè San Diego Hotel restaurant Suite & Tender.

According to PEOPLE, the couple, “kept their menu vegetarian, ordering roasted butternut squash soup, sautéed seasonal mushrooms and creamed spinach, but saved room for dessert, digging in to the eatery’s signature Suite & Tender cheesecake.”

It’s not known if David is veg like Alyssa, but at least they agreed to eat on the same side of the food chain that evening.

Nothing ruins date night like kissing a pair of beef smelling lips.

Do you have a non veg partner who forces you to eat salad at the steakhouse? Or do you drag the hunter to the organic natural foods cafe to show him what eating “raw” is really about?

Alyssa Milano On Food Safety: Take Part 2

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, July 11th, 2009 in Actresses, Food & Drink, Videos.

So we gave you John Salley’s PSA from the Takepart.com series where celebrities discuss the food safety issues featured in Robert Kenner’s Food Inc.

Take Part 2.

Vegetarian Alyssa Milano also has a clip where she urges consumers to practice food safety measures and “feed their minds” by becoming educated on food borne illnesses.

Of course, it’s hard to “know your food,” when it comes from dozens of different sources, starting with the animal.

“One hamburger contains meat from 50-100 cattle,” says Alyssa.

Fifty to 100 cattle? Yeah, pretty hard to learn and remember all their names. Safer to just eat a veggie burger.

National Kidney Foundation Celebrity Golf ClassicActress Alyssa Milano’s had her hands tied lately, juggling both a new ABC television pilot, Romantically Challenged, with her clothing line of baseball themed attire, Touch.

Alyssa is no stranger to the ballpark, becoming inspired to design Touch after experiencing frustration in not finding any cute outfits that displayed pride for her team in the baseball shops. She’s also no stranger to ballpark food, and says it’s definitely not the place for dieting.

“Part of the fun of a baseball game is actually pigging out on the concessionary food and throwing peanut shells on the floor,” Alyssa said, according to stylenews.peoplestylewatch.com. “I have four seats at Dodger stadium and after a game it looks like a tornado came through.”

Alyssa, being vegetarian, can stuff all the peanuts and popcorn down her throat at Dodger stadium, but if she visits any of the 10 Most Veggie Friendly Ballparks, she can pig out a lot more.

Philadelphia Phillies fans can munch on faux Philly steak sandwiches and crab-free cakes on their home turf at Citizens Bank Park. San Fransisco Giants in AT&T park can get even bigger scarfing down vegetarian pot stickers, Gardenburgers, and broccoli tofu platters. And the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field hit home runs with their veggie sushi.

Cloris Leachman Unveils Her New PETA Ad In Times Square

Cloris Leachman’s gown for PETA’s Let Vegetarianism Grow on You campaign is no typical ballroom dress.

All the details of the fitting and adjustments were revealed at the L.A. Times blog.

L.A. designer Mia Gyzander, the same designer who dressed up Alyssa Milano for another “Let Vegetarianism Grow on You” campaign, created the vegetable based Cinderella costume.

Several heads of green leaf lettuce and red cabbage were required to assemble the bodice, which took a week to fashion.

“But to make sure Cloris was dressed in the freshest produce available, the full dress was assembled the day of the shoot,” PETA spokesman Michael McGraw told latimesblog.latimes.com.

So now we know.

Mia Gyzander has the skills to make vegetables look good on any figure.
