The Guardian has featured an article discussing Rain Phoenix‘s childhood, including how her family went vegan.

Rain and her brothers River and Joaquin saw fisherman throwing fish against nails that were sticking out from their boat. The image was so gruesome, the three siblings went home and announced to their parents they were turning vegan. Soon mom and dad followed their lead.

Sheryl Crow is donating a portion of sales from an upcoming concert to the Cloud Foundation, a horse protection organization that is suing the U.S. government for rounding up wild horses and burros in the West.

The Bureau of Land Management would like to roundup 1,700 mustangs on the Nevada-Utah line.

It’s time for another round of vegan cupcake competition on the Food Network.

Earlier this year, Doron Petersan, owner of D.C.’s Sticky Fingers Bakery, won the competition on the network’s Cupcake Wars, where she raced against another vegan baker in the quest to impress the judges with her desserts like chocolate seltzer cake topped with ganache, banana crème frosting.
