Carrie Underwood Can’t Cook, Wears The Pants Not The Apron

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, April 13th, 2010 in Female Singers, Food & Drink.

The 6th Annual ''Pedigree Adoption Drive' New York

Carrie Underwood revealed some interesting facts about herself in a recent edition Cosmopolitan magazine.

Most of you already know the American Idol country music sweetie has been a longtime vegetarian, even though her parents work as cattle ranchers.

But just because she eats vegetarian, doesn’t mean she cooks it.

“It’s bad..real bad,” she said of her culinary skills.

Carrie still sticks at the diet though, partially because she feels it makes her have a less negative impact on the environment.

Another interesting fact: Carrie said in a relationship, she wears the pants and “over analyzes” everything.

Maybe she’ll tighten the belt buckle and start putting the rules down for fiance Mike Fisher and ask him to do Meatless Mondays.

With her fantastic cooking skills, she’s sure to keep him straight by offering the same dish of boiled pasta every week.

Aldo Zilli Makes Vegetarian Meal In Car Showroom

Shrove Tuesday At Capital Gold

Some say a man’s top loves are cars, food and women.

At Lloyd Motors Alfa Romeo showroom in the UK, chef Aldo Zilli brought almost all of them together.

Zilli, who recently opened a vegetarian restaurant in the Soho area of London, was there to prepare a dish of ravioli stuffed with wild mushroom, sundried tomato and goats cheese in an arrabiata sauce.

Audience members got a chance to ask Zilli about his cooking and restaurant and left with a signed copy of his latest cookbook.

Zilli enjoys the event because it also promotes Alfa Romeo cars.

“I have seven older brothers who all had Alfa Romeo cars when I was growing up. When I got married I got an Alfa Romeo – hence the reason I got married twice,” he joked.

Zilli has performed cooking demonstrations in the car showrooms before and said it’s good for the company because they end up selling a few cars that day.

Full bellies must bring on multi-thousand dollar purchases!

Los Premios MTV 2009 - Show

“Earth Crisis is one of my favorite bands ever. They are the reason why I am vegan and straight edge. The origins of most of my philosophical/political beliefs come from them introducing me to a whole new way of thinking. When I was asked to fill in on the upcoming tour, I was beyond stoked. It felt like being called up to the major league, and I think that this will be the most fun I will have on a tour. Be sure to come check it out because this is a band whose songs beat in my heart and who have never forgotten how to write brutally awesome songs.”

“Mad Cow” At Cannes Film Festival 2010

Mad Cow will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 17 2010.

The movie depicts an experiment gone wrong, as a scientist creates a half-man, half-cow creature that goes on rampage in this zombie/horror flick.

A vegetarian waitress turns into a weapons expert and teams up with detective Vince Chopper to battle Mad Cow in a variety of scenes.

Will she be forced to kill the creature she gave up eating?

“We loved the Mad Cow concept and knew we wanted to do this film. Mad cow is the perfect film for Cannes because, in addition to being wildly entertaining, it reminds us all that underneath the hilariously funny lies something perverted and deranged,” said Jason Rogan, one of the film’s producers.

Some fun trivia:

1. The writer of “Mad Cow” Michael Wright, wrote the first draft of the screenplay in a barn to get in touch with his inner moo.

2. The cast went to a boot camp at a dairy farm so they could get in touch with their inner moo.

“Mad Cow” is definitely a play on words of the terrible diseases associated with eating contaminated beef.

Wonder if any allegories about the downsides of the dairy industry will be touched on as well.

Valerie Harper “Looped” Deader Than Fur Coat Used In Play

The Broadway play Looped has come to an end after six weeks.

Producers closed the show early, citing low ticket sales as a factor.

Animal rights activists are at least happy to hear the fur coat worn by Valerie will retire, along with the show.

Valerie played the role of Tallulah Bankhead, an actress who wore a mink for 40 years and when PETA got word Valerie wore a real fur on stage, they sent her a letter, reminding her of faux options.

According to Contact Music, the actress told BlogTalkRadio.com, “They did send a letter and I’m very respectful of animals but I’m not a vegetarian. I did wear fur years ago but I never wear it now. They just wanted to make the point that the animals suffer and they die horribly.”

You don’t have to be a vegetarian to be turned off by killing animals in the name of fashion. There are plenty of celebrities who still eat meat, but graciously say no to real fur.

“I passed the letter onto William Ivey Long (costume designer) because that’s his work and it’s Tallulah’s signature. She wore a full-length mink coat for 40 years.”

Valerie said she didn’t have a problem wearing the coat, because it was several decades old and no animals were recently killed for it.

“It happens to be a vintage coat from the 60s. This coat was from so long ago that we didn’t kill animals for this production.”

Joss Stone Getting Naked For Black Bears In UK PETA Ad

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, April 13th, 2010 in Animal Issues, Female Singers, Fur.

Imagine There's No Hunger - Gig

Joss Stone has signed up to bare it all in a new PETA campaign encouraging to drop the use of real bear fur in hats worn by the royal guards in the UK.

A source told the Sunday Mirror, “The plight of wild bears hunted for their skins and for fun is a subject very close to her heart. She hates the fact that Canadian black bears are slaughtered for their skins to make the Queen’s Guards’ ceremonial caps so decided to peel off for the campaign.”

“It was quite full-on. She’s laying on a Union Jack with nothing on. It sends a message to the Palace over the fur they use. They are beautiful pictures and she was very comfortable being without clothes,” the source added.

Stone’s parents are both vegetarian and the singer grew up in a meatless household.

No word yet on when the ad will go live.

The “Colour Me Free” singer turns 23 years of age this month.

What a great way to celebrate your birthday by getting involved with animal activism in your birthday suit!

Pink Carey Hart Attend Animal Free Circus

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, April 13th, 2010 in Animal Issues, Celebrity Tweets, Female Singers.

Pink and Corey Hart Enjoy Each Other's Company

Singer Pink and husband Carey Hart spent some quality time together, enjoying themselves and promoting cruelty-free entertainment.

The singer, who’s real name is Alecia Beth Moore, took to Twitter to describe her experience attending an animal free circus.

“Ugggghhh I had the BESTest day with my amazing sexy hubby @hartluck riding around on beach cruisers w feathers in my hat watching the circus (sic),” Pink wrote.

“Not the real circus people. No animals, just people. That look and behave like animals. On acid. Tis’ a colorful world (sic).”

As a longtime vegetarian and animal rights supporter, she’s probably cheering on PETA’s call to shut down the Ringling Brothers.

The animal rights group has accused the circus of abusing its elephants.

The Humane Society has put together a list of circuses, tour productions and entertainers that do not use animals in any of their shows.

Check it out and enjoy some human tricks the next time one rolls into your town.
