Jayde Nicole spent the day at Six Flags with her friend Jesse Waits and the two had fun on the skycoaster bungee ride at Magic Mountain theme park.

After the event, Jayde took to Twitter to talk about the experience and tell everyone what she ate for the evening.

“Eating a giant plate of veggies and chugging water! Starting a health kick NOW.. Tips to come daily 🙂 xox”

Jayde’s already a vegetarian, so the Playmate who served veggie hot dogs on Capitol Hill must be getting ready to rid the vegan junk food from her diet.

Good thing Jayde ate the plate of veggies after the ride and not before–vegetables are great steamed, friend, baked and raw, but never regurgitated.

The video component to Strikeforce MMA champion Jake Shield‘s new PSA promoting vegetarianism.

Shields grew up in a vegetarian household and has never eaten meat in his entire life.

He brushes it off when people tell him he needs to eat meat to be a healthy competitor.

“Just look at my body,” he says in the video. “I’m in shape. I’m healthy, I’m not skinny. It just shows that they’re wrong.”

Tom Dwan is offering another vegetarian prop bet to another poker lover.

After Phil Ivey gave up and paid Dwan $150,000 for giving into something as lame as fried chicken, Mikey Knuckles announced he’s willing to take on Ivey’s bet with a few more conditions.

In addition to not eating anything with a face, Knuckles will also lose 100 pounds over the course of the year, according to Cake Poker.

If Knuckles wins, Dwan will pay him $2 million, half for being vegetarian and half for losing weight.

That sounds like fair severance pay, considering Knuckles will have to at least take a sabbatical leave from his job as a Kansas City Barbecue Society certified barbeque judge, where he judges some 25 contests a year.

While Ivey was looking for the money (and no doubt Knuckles is too), Knuckles has greater motivation to win if he can stand to lose 100 pounds.

Giving up meat for a year.

One million.

Dropping several pants sizes and looking better on camera.

One million.

Making a decision that could add years to your life.

Priceless.

Mary Kate Olsen and Ugly Betty‘s Mark Indelicato stepped into New York City’s Otarian restaurant recently to celebrate the grand opening.

“Otarian is a new global, quick-service restaurant and retail brand based on the principles of vegetarianism and its benefits to human health, the well being of all living creatures and the natural world,” said David M. Israni, Managing Director of Broad Street Development, about the restaurant in the heart of Greenwich Village that originated in Australia.

Otarian offers a selection of veggie burgers, pastas, wraps and soups with Indian themed flavors.

Daryl Hannah is no stranger to activism, even the kind that gets her arrested and asked for an autograph by the police.

During a recent interview with Good, Hannah described a tree sit in she accomplished when an urban community garden in downtown Los Angeles was threatened with the construction of an incinerator.

Fourteen acres of land was used by families in the neighborhood to grow over 500 fruit trees in a plot that was set aside after the riots in 1992.

“Situated in an extremely industrial and polluted area, the farm became a living, breathing, green space, acting as the lungs of South Central by reducing global warming emissions, and sucking up tons of nasty carbon dioxide from the Alameda corridor,” Hannah said. “And to top it all off, the land became a habitat for birds, butterflies, lizards, honeybees, and a safe haven for children living in a virtual warzone.”

“We used the tree as a lookout perch. Two of the greatest tree sitters, Julia Butterfly Hill, who spent over two years living in a redwood to bring attention to and stop their destruction, and John Quigley, known for saving the ancient oak “Old Glory,” lived in the tree.”

Despite Hannah’s and others’ protests, the South Central Los Angeles Community Garden was razed, and a documentary on its history was made into a film.

As previously reported, Food Network chef Mario Batali‘s new cookbook features an extensive section of meatless recipes.

What’s more, Delaware Online is reporting that Mario’s 15 restaurants are featuring less meat as main courses on the menu than before.

Is Mario ready to open a completely vegetarian restaurant?

Not yet.

But he is encouraging his fans of Italian food to make changes.

“You don’t have to be an obsessive monk. You just have to try to do a little better — and maybe not every day.”

Doing better without being obsessive allowed Mario to lose several pounds, but doing a little better can do a lot for the environment too.

According to Environmental Defense, if every American skipped just one meal of chicken a week and traded it for a vegetarian meal, it would be the equivalent of taking a half million cars off the road in carbon dioxide savings.

Could you do a little better this week and trade the chicken sandwich for a PB & J?

Kelly Osbourne will do Justin Bieber if Canada stops clubbing seals.

Ahem, she will do an impression of Bieber’s performance, that is.

She was recently quoted as saying, “Canada, if you cancel the seal hunt, I will dress up like Justin Bieber and sing one of his songs on YouTube.”

The Humane Society of the United States reports that many Newfoundland sealers are willing to consider a federal buyout of the sealing industry that would compensate them for lost revenue and develop economic alternatives if the hunt is closed completely.

It would great if the other half of them would be so terrified of watching a continuous play video of a Justin Bieber lookalike, they’d immediately throw their clubs away.
