Olivia Wilde Should Live On Jason Mraz Avocado Farm

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, August 23rd, 2009 in Actresses, Food & Drink.

FOX TV TCA July 09 Party

Vegan actress Olivia Wilde has just admitted to some serious avocado loving!

“I also love avocados. I feel like I always have avocados at my house. For me, they’re nature’s gift.”

Olivia should pay a visit to vegan singer Jason Mraz’s avocado farm and maybe try his chocomole-chocolate and avocado-dessert recipe.

The House star admits she eats pretty much whatever she wants without worrying about putting on extra pounds.

Her ability to do this is probably related to the fact that vegan diets, full of lean plant based proteins like nuts, beans, and whole grain pasta and belly filling fruits and vegetables have waaaay less fat and calories than the meat and potatoes ones.

And let’s hear it for those avocados, which are full of monounsaturated “good for you” fats that help lower bad LDL cholesterol.

We think we hear some guacamole calling us from the fridge!

Good for her!

Olivia Munn: Vegan Pizza Taste Like Poo

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, August 23rd, 2009 in Business, Celebrity Tweets, Food & Drink, TV Hosts.

(500) Days of Summer Los Angeles Premiere

Olivia Munn recently Tweeted about her experience eating vegan pizza.

The Attack of the Show! co-host doesn’t appear to have enjoyed the experience.

“Eating vegan pizza with Kevin. Note to self: vegan equals poo.”

We don’t know what Munn put on her pizza, but maybe it was the chef’s cooking  skills that were “poo,” cause vegan pizza is definitely delish!

If you’re looking to pop something in the oven for your quick fix, Amy’s Kitchen has several options, including a non dairy rice crust with soy cheese and a cheeseless roasted vegetable variety.

If do it yourself thrills you, pick up some Follow Your Heart, Vegan Rella, or Teese Vegan Cheese at the grocery or health food store.

There are dozens of options for toppings.

Poo doesn’t have to be one of them.

McDonalds-PETA

Chrissie Hynde loves McDonald’s…NOT!

The singer has been mixing up some jams in her spare time and has come up with a parody to the fast food giant’s theme, “I’m Lovin’ It,” titled, “I’m Hatin’ It.”

Tomorrow at 12 noon at the McDonald’s at 242 S. 700 E. in Salt Lake City, Utah, Chrissie will perform her tune, as well as help pass out the PETA “Unhappy Meals,” containing a scary looking Ronald McDonald cutout, a brutalized plastic chicken, and a ketchup packet meant to stand for blood that urges McDonald’s to “Ketchup With the Times.”

“McDonald’s means McCruelty as far as I’m concerned,” said Hynde.

Every concert needs memorabilia, so “I’m Hatin’ It,” T-shirts will also be available.

Um, okaaaaay.

Courtney Love decided to get snuggly with a turtle and post the evidence of the rendezvous online.

Gossip blogger Perez Hilton wanted to make sure animal rights groups were aware of this.

“Are you seeing this, PETA?!”

Hilarious response, Perez!

But seriously, she shouldn’t be taking that turtle to bed.

It deserves a nice free life outside with grass, dirt and to mingle with other turtles, who, unlike Courtney, probably don’t have breath that reeks of alcohol.

Free range is cool for animals, but this isn’t what AR groups have in mind.

Erykah Badu Keeps Her Kids Veggie Schooled

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, August 21st, 2009 in Children, Female Musicians, Female Singers, Food & Drink.

Erykah Badu performs at the 40th New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival

If you’re a vegetarian kid growing up in a butcher shop neighborhood, how do you cope with being different?

Erykah Badu gave a recent interview with babble.com, where she explained how she gives her kids all sorts of yummy alternatives when they start asking about the “M” word.

“They joke about it,” Erykah said. “And I’m sure as children they feel left out sometimes. But that’s why we provide them with alternatives. We make sure we keep a school menu on hand, and we prepare the same foods the kids at school are eating but in a healthier manner. That’s what this lifestyle provides us with. I work really hard the way I do so I can give them all the things they need without them feeling like they’re being punished. So they can have a good understanding of what it means to be healthy.”

Erykah hopes these lessons of health will continue  as the children get old enough to make their own decisions about food.

“I don’t in any way force them to have the same lifestyle, but I think they should know the benefits of having a healthy body. If they were to choose to do anything else after they become high school students, I would have full confidence that they know how to take care of their bodies and themselves. By making sure they use preventive medicine — getting plenty of water, plenty of chlorophyll and vegetable juices and good, healthy rest and activity — I know they’ll be able to take good care of themselves.”
