Yes, Leona Lewis, You Are Releasing A Vegan Fashion Line!

MTV Asia Awards 2008 - Arrivals

A lot of internet talk has been going on about Leona Lewis releasing her own line of cruelty free and vegan clothing. It’s finally official. The British “Bleeding Love,” star will do what Natalie Portman did and what Pamela Anderson wants to do now that she thinks Ugg Boots are Ugg-ly because they contain sheepskin.

On a recent video blog, she said, “I don’t wear leather or any animal products, so I want to bring out a line . . . I’m kind of the real beginning stages of it. I’m not sure when it will be out, but I hope very soon.”

Let’s hope they are as affordable as they are vegan so everyone can enjoy the pleasure of walking around in their own, and not another animal’s skin.

Prince Fielder Thinks Plain Tofu Tastes Like A Wet Eraser

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, September 21st, 2008 in Athletes-Games-Sports.

BBN-BREWERS-PHILLIES

Milwaukee Brewers baseball player Prince Fielder became a vegetarian last spring and took heat from fans telling him to eat steak and praise from those applauding him for veggie brats.

“Fans last year were yelling at me, ‘Hey Prince, eat a salad!’ This year they’re saying, ‘Eat a steak!’” he said in an interview with The New York Times.

Fielder thinks that tofu tastes like a “wet eraser,” and you won’t catch him raving about how he can’t wait to eat the next salad full of 20 different plant based items designed to make salad look and taste good.

“Yeah, I’m a vegetarian — but still, some things are just nasty,” he said. “I like salads. But sometimes, they get too creative. I like regular food, just no meat in it.”

Read the story to learn how Prince finally decided to give a dish with beets a try and what salad he actually did order that day.

Nicole Lapin

Nicole Lapin is a young journalist who anchors CNN.com Live and has appeared on CNN Headline News, CNN, and CNN International. She decided to go into the field after her parents banned her from watching coverage of the Gulf War because they thought it was too negative. What a way to rebel!

She attended Harvard University at only the age of 15 and eventually became valedictorian of her journalism class at Northwestern University.

She’s a vegan, but says no one would ever notice, as she’s not the picky type and can turn almost any situation into one that feeds her and suits the vegetarian lifestyle.

“I’m a vegan. But, no one believes it because when you’re out in the field, most of your meal options involve meat with a side of something fried. But, I’ve learned how to be creative and improvise and can eat anywhere — even a steak house or a gas station.”

Heather Mills donates $1 million worth of veggie burgers

Heather Mills has taken a lot of heat in the media lately from her divorce settlement from Sir Paul McCartney to charities claiming she owes them money to just not being very nice in general. But fortunately, for her and many children living in poverty, she’s making headlines for something good this time.

Mills will be donating $1 million dollars worth of vegan food to children of Hunts Point, a South Bronx neighborhood where many live in poverty. She’ll be making the donation in a ceremony tomorrow in Hunts Point Riverside Park, where she’ll be grilling veggie hot dogs and burgers for Hunts Point Alliance and is set to receive an honorary congressional award from congressman Jose Serrano.

Farm Sanctuary Gala 2004

“I see us as stewards of all this, you know – the air, the land, the animals. There’s this complete dismissal of life on Earth. We’re destroying each other. We start on the animals, then we start on humans. It always starts on the low rung, and it just escalates. It doesn’t look like it’s getting much better.”

—Singer Chrissie Hynde, Pretenders’ rock legend and vegan restaurant co-owner, in an interview with The Baltimore Sun.

Better yet, take him or her with you to the benefit for the Woodstock (N.Y.) Farm Animal Sanctuary featuring cartoonist Dan Piraro and singer and songwriter Nellie McKay. Hopefully, Nellie will grab something nutritious to eat before her performance, versus her usual fare of french fries.

The most bizarre cartoonist will do his 45 minute comedy act followed by the feminist who sings about having no sense of humor when in comes to equal pay and ending child abuse.

Tickets are $20, doors open at 7pm, and it’s first come, first be entertained with a night of awesome vegan performers. Go to their website for any other information you might need to convince yourself that this is going to be one fun night.

Baccarat Presents UNICEF 2007 Snowflake Ball - Arrivals

Forgive us, for we have Eco-sinned as well.

We’ve been covering the veg beat in politics lately, including Obama’s desire to get more veggie for the children, Laura Bush’s organic obsession, and Chelsea Clinton’s vegan chef experience while she was in living in the White House. Lauren Bush, is the niece of President George W. Bush, but she really has more to claim to fame that this familial association. At the age of 22, she became a humanitarian with the U.N. World Food Programme, she’s launched an environmentally friendly clothing line, and she has been a vegetarian since the age of four! Most of us barely knew how to pronounce most of the food we ate then. The fashion model and designer basically made the decision after learning what she was eating was an animal. She tries to be as green as possible, but she’s not a saint. Watch the video to hear her reveal her “Eco-sin.”
