Yeo Valley Raps About Organic Milk (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, October 26th, 2010 in Business, Food & Drink, Videos.

Now that Vanilla Ice is into vegetarian and more sustainable eating, he might consider resurrecting his rap career by busting rhymes in favor of organic products, like Yeo Valley (and yes, pronounced “Yo Valley”) Organic in the UK has done to promote its organic dairy.

Featuring sexy, pasture fed cows, good looking gents and an attractive female doing a solo, this Yeo Valley commercial promotes organic milk like it’s the new bling.

Lyrics like, “I’m rollin’ in my Massey (a type of tractor) on a summer’s day/chugging cold milk while I’m baling hay” and “approach is common sense/harmony in nature takes precedence,” explain Yeo Valley’s business principles in a catchy, hip-hop manner.

“Good Day New York” Anchor Suggests Vulgar Name For Soy Milk

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, April 29th, 2010 in Food & Drink, Offbeat, TV Hosts, Videos.

If you’ve ever been ribbed about why soy milk is called milk because it doesn’t come from a cow, here’s another name, albeit vulgar, you can start calling it.

The anchors of Good Day New York were having this discussion because the National Milk Producer’s Federation thinks only products that come from lactating animals should be categorized as milk.

Co-anchor Rosanna Scott suggested soy milk be called “Soy jizzum,” getting both a giggle and embarrassed look from both of her co-workers.

But soy milk does not come from male reproductive organs either.

Jamie Oliver Says Real Men Shouldn’t Drink Pink

European Premiere of Kick Ass held at the Empire Cinema, Leicester Square

On a recent episode of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution, Jamie Oliver is peeved whenever the pink milk he thought he sent packing from the school cafeteria in the town where he’s trying to change people’s eating habits showed up only days later.

Just like Jamie found out french fries count wonderfully as a vegetable, he learned pink milk, despite the sugar content, makes a good source of calcium according to USDA standards.

“Clever! I never thought that if you put sugar in everything they’d eat it more!” Jamie said.

If we only had more Jamies to challenge the dairy milk requirement in schools across the country, our students would be in better shape.

According to Healthy School Lunches, flavored milks such as strawberry or chocolate, may contain as much or more sugar than soda.

Not to mention the numerous studies that have linked cow’s milk to health ailments like constipation, obesity, anemia, ear infections, respiratory issues and cancer.

Pink milk will definitely not turn boys into strong men.

And to think it was soy milk and male boobs people were worried about.

“Skinny Bitch” Rory Freedman On Drinking Milk

Gretchen Ryan's "Little Pretty" Exhibition Opening

Those darn humans!

They’re so slow to catch on.

Like when it comes to consuming milk, for example, every other animal is so ahead of the game.

Says Skinny Bitch co-author Rory Freedman:

“When we have babies, we breastfeed them, and then at a certain point, we stop. It is exactly the same for cows and every other mammal on the planet. They produce milk when they give birth, they feed their young, and then they stop. We are the only species on the planet that drinks the milk of another species. We are the only species on the planet that drinks milk as adults.”

Rory’s got her theories on why humans are getting slower and slower when it comes to mastering the task of removing lips from nipple juice.

“Because the multi-million dollar dairy industry has convinced us that we need milk for healthy bones,” she said, and gave evidence to the contrary.

“Yale researchers found that countries with the highest dairy and meat intakes also suffer the highest osteoporosis rates.”

Alicia Silverstone hosts a launch for her new book THE KIND DIET , NYC

Alicia Silverstone had a launch party for her vegan diet and lifestyle book, The Kind Diet, which will be released tomorrow from Rodale Publishing.

During the celebration at New York City’s Candle 79, Alicia took the time to explain why cow’s milk wasn’t made from humans.

“Remember, dairy was designed to make little baby calves turn into 400-pound cows, so that’s what it does to you,” Silverstone said. “It makes you fat.”

Well…guess sometimes you have to be blunt.

A study discussed in the Washington Post agrees.

Researchers found that children who drank 3 servings of milk a day were prone to becoming overweight.

Let’s ease up on that mother cow and chug some almond milk instead.
