Wow. Talk about what’s been happening “since she’s been gone.”
Kelly Clarkson is vegetarian now and has been one for about a year.
During a recent interview with Trent FM UK, Kelly’s interviewer was talking about his experiences in Amarillo, Texas, where the world’s biggest steak-72 ounces-is served.
Kelly said, “My friends have kind of disowned me a bit in Texas because I’ve been a vegetarian for over a year now.”
“You can’t be a vegetarian in Texas,” the interviewer jokingly objects.
“I tried it and it’s been really great…So a 72 ounce steak might make me barf,” Kelly continued. “It’s so much better now. I feel better,” she added.
The interviewer concluded by pleading with Kelly to “eat some steak, please,” telling her she was missing her nutrients. Ha! Smart gal Kelly responded that “you get enough nutrients [from things] like beans and everything.”
Kelly’s new album, All I Ever Wanted, is set to be released in March.
Listen to the video to hear the interview and Kelly talk about her fake red carpet smile. The vegetarian part of the conversation starts around minute 4:45.
“Not vegan yet, i eat cheese made from my own milk, however i am farmed inhumanely and shall report myself to the UN at dawn.”
—comedian Russell Brand in response to a question on his Twitter if he was a vegan. Salma Hayek has been making headlines about breastfeeding babies that aren’t hers-maybe Russell is stocking up on the breast pumps for an entrepreneurial adventure?
We’d like to look more into this “farmed inhumanely” situation. Russell doesn’t seem to be the type you should keep caged…Or should you?
Scratch that. She wants it everyday. Uh, a home cooked vegetarian meal, that is…sometimes you gotta elaborate.
American Idol alumnus said she really doesn’t like Valentine’s Day and that couples should show their love every day of the year, according Lime Life.
“I’m anti-Valentine’s Day. I don’t believe – and this goes for anybody – your man shouldn’t love you for one day out of 365. He should love you 365 days out of the year. I want Valentine’s Day every day.”
She has said before that she’d choose animals over men, because a good dog was much easier to find than a good man. Looks like she found another good dog to spend the day with.
She traveled with her rat terrier this past Valentine’s Day.
People sometimes harp that the PETA ads for vegetarianism have little to do with eating vegetables and more with objectifying woman. Now one their “Sexiest” is even questioning the point of the contests.
“I fail to understand who makes these lists?” Kapoor said after receiving the India Today Woman Award presented by Erin Brockovich. Yes, THE Erin Brockovich, the real life busty and brainy woman whoJulia Roberts played in the 2000 movie based on the real story of how an everyday gal exposed a company for their anti-environmental practices.
“Instead of featuring on these lists, I would rather receive awards such as the India Today Woman Award,” Kareena added.
Kapoor was a winner in the arts category, who said this of her achievements.
“I believe in inner strength-that’s why I was able to reach where I am. There may be competition and negativity but if you have an inner belief you can reach your goals and fulfil your dreams.”
The story we posted about Kristen Bell cooking chicken in her crock pot for her roommates even though she herself is a vegetarian makes for some discussion: Do you think most vegetarians are opposed to cooking meat, even when it’s for someone they know personally? What if a vegetarian had a company or employees to look after? Would all the company parties be veg?
When Heather Mills treated the staff of builders on her Sussex home to a Christmas feast, the workers were a little disappointed to learn the meal was vegan.
Monster and Critics reported one of them saying, “We couldn’t believe we were getting a slap-up meal. But it’s all strictly vegetarian – they’ve just shaped the stuff to look like turkey. What’s the point of that?”
The workers took it all in good stride, since Heather was at least serving enough alcohol for them to wash the Tofurky taste from their mouths.
“We will choke it down. After all, Heather’s not against alcohol. Apparently there’s going to be plenty to drink.”
Heather is a staunch vegan, so it would have been strange to hear she was serving meat for them. But what about the rest of you? If you were in Heather’s position, or if you were treating a staff of your employees or contractors, would you force the vegginess on them for that meal?
But it’s not anything new for the Star Me Kitten dudes to speak out when it comes to making sure herbivores have something on the menu for them.
The Grill in Athens, Georgia is a burger and fries, milkshake joint. But when Stipe frequented there in the early 80s when he was a student at the University of Georgia, he made some noise about putting vegetarian items on the menu. It worked and the restaurant still has an extensive vegetarian menu, featuring tofu dogs, fake bacon B.L.T., and veggie wraps.
The Grill is considered a landmark in Athens and has recently turned over its hands to a worker who flipped burgers as an employee for 12 years, Mike Bradshaw, because the most recent previous owner, Jeff Weinberg, didn’t want his joint turning into a Five Guys or Johnny Rockets or other grease fest chain store.
Thank goodness The Grill isn’t losing its veggie religion. There are no plans to change a thing, including the menu.
