Kim Kardashian–Activists Scared The Fur Off Her

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, January 19th, 2010 in Fur.

Kim Kardashian swore off real fur, but there was a time when her hide wearing ways got her more publicity than she asked for, according to Buddy TV.

“Someone threatened to kill me if they found me wearing fur again. Was it real fur? I think so, yes. They kept writing and saying, ‘Why are you wearing this?’ It was crazy and scary.”

Other frightening experiences for the self professed Armenian Princess include multiple marriage proposals.

“I get a lot of marriage proposals on Twitter, which are weird. I was reading one this morning. I have no idea how many I’ve had.”

Kim’s taken a compassionate route and wears faux fur now.

Bet it comes in handy when trying to hide her identify when spotted by a Twitter  suitor.

PETA To Usher Raymond–Stop Buying Fur

Say Yeah! but not to real fur.

Usher Raymond claims his prized fur coats were stolen from his SUV last month while he and a friend were shopping in Atlanta, Georgia, according to SF Gate.

Why anyone would want to steal anything so ugly is still in question, but People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals had a representative write to Usher, asking him not to bother replacing them.

After all, Usher stole them from someone else.

“When it comes to these coats, you’re not the first victim. The animals who were beaten, electrocuted, or drowned for those coats – the original owners – are the real victims. Please pledge to be fur-free.”

Not to mention the publicity opportunity. Lots of people would love to see Usher naked in an anti-fur ad.

“You would be in great company! Other compassionate folks who refuse to wear real fur include Eva Mendes, Charlize Theron, Michelle Obama… and Nia Long, just to name a few. We’d be thrilled to add your name to the list.”

Another PETA ad has been pulled this year and it’s only the month of January.

The PETA bear cap ad was supposed to be shown on 25 London buses in an attempt to draw attention to the killing of black bears used for fur in making the Queen’s guards’ hats.

The ad showed a guard with a bear’s bloody head on his head with the tagline: “MoD: Go Fur-Free. It can take the entire hide of one bear just to make one cap.”

According to Media Company, the manager of the buses objected to the ad.

‘Tradition’ is no excuse for cruelty, and we plan to make this the year that everyone hears about how slowly the British military adapts to change,” said PETA’s Poorva Joshipura.

PETA wants the guards hats fashioned from faux fur.

Kim Kardashian Does H & M Faux Fur

Kim Kardashian dines out at Katsuya in Hollywood

Kim Kardashian is reportedly making her appearances in faux fur by H & M, according to Nitrolicious.

Hopefully, these rumors are true.

A year ago, Kim ditched her real fur vests after then boyfriend Reggie Bush said it was embarassing to be approached by anti-fur activists.

Then she and Reggie broke up. And got back together. And broke up. And then everyone decided their status wasn’t worth keeping tract of.

Instead of a lifetime and happiness for Kim and Reggie, a more reasonable wish is that Kim keeps playing the role of phony furry.

First lady Michelle Obama may look stunning in PETA’s fur free ads that lined the walls of DC Metro Stations, but did she even want to appear in them?

It has been discovered that the animal rights organization did not get Mrs. Obama’s permission to use her photo in the ad, according to the Washington Post and the White House is calling for the posters to be removed.

“We got a call from the White House counsel’s office,” Ingrid Newkirk, president of PETA said. “We said to them, we’re not selling a coat, only an idea that glamorous beautiful women who you look up to don’t wear fur. . . . We’re honoring her. Lawyers are lawyers, but PETA is honoring her fashion sense.”

“We didn’t expect them to fund it or endorse it. But “she is in the public domain. . . . This is reporting a statement of fact: She doesn’t wear fur. And our opinion: We think that’s fabulous.”

PETA also did not obtain permission to use Carrie Underwood, Oprah Winfrey or Tyra Banks for the ads, although these celebrities have prior connections to the group.

“I’m also not a great fan of faux fur that looks real — I’d much rather have it look fake.”

—-Project Runway fashion mentor Tim Gunn, in an interview with The LA Times.

Sounds like looking through the archives of Fur Real or Fur Fake would be painful for Tim–even when the fur is completely synthetic.

What’s your take on faux fur?

Does knowing the source is synthetic make it easier on the eyes?

Now, things are getting back to normal.

After an anti-fur ad featuring the ladies covered up, PETA is finally getting back to its roots by featuring R & B singer Mario baring his pecs to encourage the ladies (and anyone else who likes a chiseled bod) to not wear fur.

“I’ve been offered deals to wear fur…I’ve been offered [deals] from different fur companies to wear their fur for tour on stage,” Mario says in the video below.

Thank goodness he chose to take PETA’s offer to promote fur free attire instead!

PETA has a new anti-fur poster that was unveiled at Washington, D.C. Metro stops today featuring Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Tyra Banks and Carrie Underwood.

Amazingly, this ad comes with all celebrities wearing their clothing.

And way to go for having one veggie in the group!

Public transportation is the environmentally friendly way to travel, but during December the cold weather can scare even the most enthusiastic tree hugger away from the bus stop and into the car.

Let’s hope this ad reminds the bravest to have compassion for the animals as well as the earth.

And that Tyra stops thinking pork makes vegetables taste better.
