Paul McCartney: Renaissance Man Who Cooks A Mean Veg Lasagna

Nancy Shevell will have it made if she finally ties the knot with ex Beatles Sir Paul McCartney. A man who can cook makes the best husband, hands down.

McCartney was being interviewed by Entertainment Weekly when it was mentioned he’s such as well rounded man-musician who plays most of the instruments on his albums, poet, children’s book author, and artist who drew the artwork for his album.

“Such a renaissance man,” EW suggested. “Can you bake too?”

“Well, I did make a vegetarian lasagna recently, one Linda used to make. I found it in a book in the kitchen and I thought, can I really do this? But I did and it was quite delicious”

Paul has had many years of practice cooking vegetarian since he and late wife Linda’s Christmas without turkey, where they crafted a macaroni and cheese “turkey” in place of the real thing.

Stella McCartney Celebrates Paris Store With Veg Meal With Family

Stella McCartney Paris Store Opening

Ethical fashion designer and daughter of ex Beatle Paul McCartney, Stella McCartney, recently opened one of her clothing boutiques in Paris, France.

She shared the evening with dad Paul and his girlfriend, some say fiancee Nancy Shevell.

Being the vegetarian family they are, the McCartneys and Nancy had a gourmet veg dinner at Le Grand Vefour which included artichoke crème brulee.

Shevell is probably learning to love all the veg food she can if she’s going to wed Paul soon. She’s already been reported to have quit eating meat to please Paul earlier in their relationship.

Stephen Colbert is proving he’s not of fan of vegetarianism. Not long ago, we brought you the video of him making fun of PETA’s new Sea Kitten Campaign, when he renamed animals to sound more vegetarian friendly like calling owls “sky nachos.”

Recently, he had Sir Paul McCartney on his show where he questioned the ex Beatle’s vegetarian diet.

“I have a beef to pick with you, sir, in that you don’t eat beef,” Colbert said. McCartney goes into detail about him feeling animals are sentient beings that deserve to live and not be eaten by humans and that the Dalai Lama agrees with him. The ever so sarcastic Colbert asks, “Don’t you think if the animals had the opportunity, they would eat us?”

Colbert’s starting to sound like Karl Lagerfeld.

McCartney replied with, “In an emergency, perhaps the Dalai Lama would eat me.”

Watch and listen to Paul say his midriff is the best part to eat during an emergency.

Not long ago, it was discovered that a Liverpool McDonald’s restaurant had pictures of Paul McCartney and other ex Beatles on its wall. The news caused quite a stir with McCartney being a vegetarian who obviously wouldn’t support the fare served at McDonald’s.

Chrissie Hynde’s vegan Italian eatery, The Vegiterranean, has got it right though: Veg people in a veg restaurant.

If you’re lucky enough to dine there or even stop by and visit, you’ll find pictures of celebrities like Joss Stone, Morrisssey, Joaquin Phoenix, Paul McCartney, and even Chrissie herself on the wall of vegetarian fame.

1 in 200 Kids Vegetarian: Celebrity Tots Included

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, January 26th, 2009 in Female Singers, Models, Research + Science.

Heather Mills donates one million dollars in food to up the nutritional standards of the children in Hunts Point in the Bronx

A recent study has estimated that 1 in 200 children are vegetarians. The kid who brings the tofu sandwich that no one wants to trade with is getting company and there’s a good chance he’ll have someone to swap for seitan at school.

There are many children of celebrities who have made news because of their diet, or perhaps more so because of their parents strongly insisting on their vegetarian diet.

Heather Mills made headlines last year when she reportedly gave an eight page letter of requirements for her daughter Bea’s food regime while vacationing with ex Paul McCartney.

Mills’ strong spirit to instill the veg lifestyle in her own child has been extended to her helping other children, donating time and money to impoverished kids and their families, helping them access and learn to cook meatless dishes.

Madonna put it in writing as well, but legally, when she required ex husband Guy to only serve the children organic, macrobiotic vegan food.

With news such as the U.S. Government’s estimate and high profile celebrities making their children’s diet public, more parents may consider sending more carrots and yogurt to school with their child, versus a Lunchable and fruit roll ups.

Paul McCartney poses for photos during an impromptu photo op in NYC

Paul McCartney was a guest on the Howard Stern show recently. After hearing “Howard Stern,” you know immediately the show was at least a little PG, as evident in the transcript over at the Examiner.

Stern told his vegan sidekick, Robin Quivers, to “show Paul her breasts.” McCartney, being the gentleman he is, immediately protested, to which Quivers responded, “I’ve been rejected by Paul McCartney.”

McCartney is in the U.S. to attend the inauguration next week and Quivers tried to smooth talk her way into coming along by reminding him of their shared interests.

“I’m a vegan, too. Take me to the inauguration. Kids love me.” Paul is only vegetarian, but close enough.

Neither breasts, nor shared diet could win over Paul, but he did share some insight on why he feels it’s okay to eat dairy, such as eggs.

When Stern asked, “Isn’t an egg a chicken abortion?” Paul replied it wasn’t and said “We don’t like to think of it like that.”

Hens abandon their eggs in nature, so that’s why it’s okay and not animal cruelty, he explained.

Time for you vegans to shout out! What do you think about Paul’s rationale? Some say that meat is okay because animals kill each other in nature. Is his argument similar?

Speak now. And if you want to give your opinion on if he should have looked at Robin’s breasts, that’s fine too.

Paul McCartney On Dalai Lama Doctors: They’re Just Wrong!

Mere regular celebrities may fall prey to the medical industry telling them meat is necessary for health, but His Holiness?

The Dalai Lama was vegetarian once, but on the advice of doctors, decided to start eating meat. He has been criticized for this by some, including Paul McCartney.

In Prospect Magazine, Paul reveals he wrote to His Holiness after the Dalai Lama stated, “As Buddhists we believe in not causing any suffering to any sentient beings.”

Paul replied to this by saying, “Forgive me for pointing this out, but if you eat animals then there is some suffering somewhere along the line.”

It was then revealed by the Dalai Lama that he was simply following doctors’ orders.

“He replied saying that his doctors had told him he needed it, so I wrote back saying they were wrong.”
