Top Chef Sends Veg Chef Home: Seitan Worshippers Plot Revenge

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, August 20th, 2009 in Chefs, Reality TV, Videos.

Top Chef is not off to a good start.

On a recent episode, the cheftestants were asked to cook a dish based on one of their vices and Jen chose a hot and spicy dish because of her temper.

Oh, did we mention the dish was chile relleno stuffed with seitan?

Many of the other cheftestants and judges weren’t exactly thrilled with the vegetarian dish and in the end Jen got sent home.

Wonder if it had anything to do with that ex vegetarian now hamburger hussy Padma Lakshmi?

Watch the clip for a recap of the episode.

Kourtney Kardashian signs autographs and poses for pictures after an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show

If you keep up with the Kardashians, you know by now that Kourtney is carrying a bun in her oven by none other than her player boyfriend Scott Disick.

We’ve expressed disappointment in the number of vegetarian women who give into meat cravings during pregnancy, so it comes as a pleasant surprise that non vegetarian Kourtney’s hormones are calling for fruit.

“You know what’s weird? Like, I always thought like if I was pregnant I would eat like, McDonalds or like, Taco Bell all day long or something. I’m not craving those things, like, I’ve been craving like cold stuff like frozen yogurt and smoothies and like, I’ve been eating way more fruit then I used to eat before.”

Good. Stay away from McEvil and the arches Kourtney.

Better yet, follow Khloe’s lead and work towards going vegetarian.

“Well, we’re really not too concerned about what people think about us because our clients happen to be whales and sharks and sea turtles and fish. So you know, we do what we do, and people either like it, or they don’t like it. They either like it passionately or they dislike us intensely. What we do out there is simply go out and intervene against illegal activities. We aren’t a protest group. What we are is an interventionist group. And we’ve never hurt anybody, but we’re quite aggressive.”

Bravo

Did you catch last night’s season finale of NYC Prep?

If you’ve been following the Bravo reality TV series that features NYC’s elite high school students spending their time partying and attending charitable events, you know that Taylor DiGiovanni represents the vegan crew!

What’s even better, is that Taylor gets props from her crowd.

Fellow NYC Prep star Camille Isobel Hughes described her by saying, “Taylor’s the most unique person I’ve ever met. She just does whatever she wants whenever she wants it, and is totally nonchalant.”

Oh, yeah.

Never met a vegan who just followed the crowd.

Bob Harper has been tweeting away his vegetarian recommendations lately.

The personal trainer who serves to get the Blue team in shape on NBC’s The Biggest Loser, has revealed he loves vegan cheese and almond milk.

From @BobHarperAnthem:

“Try choosing a cheese alternative today to replace your regular one. You will be surprised how great some of them taste, my fav, vegan rella.”

“Try using Almond Milk today instead of cow’s milk today. It is a healthy alternative and tastes GREAT!!”

Sweet deal, Bob!

Wouldn’t it be incredibly cool if The Biggest Loser had contestants do veg diets while they were losing weight?

Between Bob’s recommendations for milk and cheese substitutes and Jillian Michaels almost being completely vegetarian except for a few fish here and there, they could really show the world the best body is a veggie body.
