CBS' Survivor 10 Year Anniversary Party - Arrivals

Recently dismissed Survivor “Heroes Vs. Villains” contestant Amanda Kimmel may have worked as a hiking guide before finding her way in the jungle on the CBS reality TV series, but she won’t be returning to the woods.

“I’m really passionate about organic food and skin care and actually have been working on three organic fragrances called ‘Wild,'” Kimmel told TV Squad. “They’re coming out soon.”

Organic food must have been hard to come by on the island.

Maybe Rupert wasn’t the only one with a secret food stash.

2010 Miss USA Contestants Visit Nina Footwear Showroom

You know you’re finally a vegan when you no longer cheat and lick the spoon when making cookie dough with dairy.

Or when you don’t lick the spoon after making tuna fish sandwich.

That’s what Davina Reeves, Miss New York USA, was accustomed to before she made the switch.

Now she still makes her boyfriend’s tuna sandwich, but he’s the only one of the duo that eats Charlie.

Reeves made the decision to change her diet after suffering from several health issues and skin flare ups, according to IEatGrass.

Reeves hooked up with a vegan chef who suggested she meet with a nutritionist who taught her to combine complex carbs with plant based protein and non dairy calcium.

“Playing around with new restaurants or cooking new recipes. It’s kinda fun to think food of a beautiful gift. I think, “What can I find?” said Reeves.

Reeves will make an appearance at a free workshop on Holistic Living at the New York Open Center on May 1 at 7:30 PM to share her stories of health and healing.

“America’s Next Top Model” Cycle 14–The Value Of Faux (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, April 26th, 2010 in Fashion, Models, Videos.

The gals from America’s Next Top Model Cycle 14 were recently taught a lesson on how to fake it.

To illustrate how buying knock off designs hurt the original designers, the models posed in everything fake–including fake fur.

According to the clip above, the fashion industry loses about about $9.2 billion dollars a year from counterfeit goods like the fake Prada bags the photographer pretending to be a salesman on the street was offering.

Of course, sometimes it’s good to be fake.

The costs of real fur?

According to Mercy for Animals, here is the bottom line.

“Of the 31 million animals killed on fur ranches each year, about twenty-six million are mink and 4.5 million are fox. In addition, 250,000 chinchillas, 150,000 sable, 100,000 fitch, 100,000 raccoon dogs (a separate species from the American raccoon), and a small number of lynx, bobcat, and nutria are fur farmed.”

Josie Maran Natural Beauty Products

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, April 21st, 2010 in Cosmetics And Beauty Products, Models.

7th Annual Global Green USA Pre-Oscar Party

Josie Maran has her own line of cosmetics that are sourced from natural ingredients and are not tested on animals.

Maran was the face of Maybeline for a decade and soon realized she was more than just a pretty face for the cosmetic industry–she was an entrepreneur as well.

Launched in 2006, the products she prides on being free of toxic ingredients such as parabens and petrochemicals are being demanded by celebrity make up artists that do work for stars like Megan Fox.

The model who tries to eat organic and vegetarian as much as possible made a list of things never to put in her eyeliner, lipstick and blush and stuck with it.

“I have a no-no list and I aim to make my products as natural and organic as possible,” Maran told The Daily Green. “Everything has to be nontoxic. We have no parabens, no petrochemicals. We’re always reformulating. My goal is to make products nontoxic and healthy. You have to be realistic about getting high performing makeup. There are chemicals that aren’t toxic. We’ve put them together in a new way that’s not toxic. You have to ask a a lot of questions of the lab. And we’re doing as much research into the ingredients as possible and reformulating when things aren’t as good as they could be.”

Maran says when it comes to ingredients, less is more.

If you’re spending your entire lunch hour reading the bottle at the drug store, you should probably leave it on the shelf.

Jayde Nicole Eats Veggies After Bungee Jumping

PETA Serves Veggie Hot Dogs to speak out against National Hot Dog Month in Washington

Jayde Nicole spent the day at Six Flags with her friend Jesse Waits and the two had fun on the skycoaster bungee ride at Magic Mountain theme park.

After the event, Jayde took to Twitter to talk about the experience and tell everyone what she ate for the evening.

“Eating a giant plate of veggies and chugging water! Starting a health kick NOW.. Tips to come daily 🙂 xox”

Jayde’s already a vegetarian, so the Playmate who served veggie hot dogs on Capitol Hill must be getting ready to rid the vegan junk food from her diet.

Good thing Jayde ate the plate of veggies after the ride and not before–vegetables are great steamed, friend, baked and raw, but never regurgitated.

Tila Tequila Shops For Meat, Shows Some Meat

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, April 1st, 2010 in Female Singers, Models, Not So Vegetarian, TV Hosts.

Tila Tequilla

Tila Tequila got caught in a very inappropriate position.

Out shopping for the day, Tequila stopped by the meat section of the grocery store and appeared to be contemplating if she was going to be a breast, leg or thigh girl for the day.

Definitely not cool.

The potential e. coli, hormones and antibiotics surrounding Tequila at that moment were waaaay dirtier than that outfit.

Such a shame, considering she’s already passionate about not wearing fur, as was evident in her column for Global Grind, Hot Girls Fake It For The Animals.

Then again, the photos might motivate some to stay away from the aisle, as zeitgeistyreport suggests.

“Ewww… just…ewww. I remember when ‘Babe’ first came out, it turned me off meat for like 9 months, I think these photos will be the impetus for me to go vegan forever. I hope they fumigated the whole meat section after she finished up her little photo shoot. I don’t wanna hear on the 6 o’clock news that a slew Los Angeles carnivores came down with a case of skank.”

Here’s hoping Tequila’s next writing assignment investigates factory farms and the impact on eating animals on the earth, so in the future she’ll be showing a little less real meat.
