“I’m 68, but if you saw me you’d think I’m 45. That’s because I’ve been a vegan for eight years. My wife and I walk every night two miles from this vegan restaurant home. I eat there about four times a week. Something about being a vegan; it’s life-prolonging.”

—Artist Peter Max, in an interview. The vegan eatery he walks from, Candle Cafe, is the casual dining sister restaurant to Candle 79, one of the top eight vegetarian restaurants in the country.

He has great admiration for Dr. Joel Fuhrman, the vegan doctor who influenced singer Alanis Morissette to recently go vegan.
