“It’s almost been nine months with this vegan stuff. It brings some great energy.”

Mike Tyson, on his Twitter account about his new diet. The only thing he misses is a Baby Ruth candy bar. You can do it, Mike. Devour the vegan Go Max Go version of Snickers,  Snickerz instead.

“I am very proud of the fact that 20 years on people tell me they became a vegetarian as a result of ‘Meat is Murder. I think that is quite literally rock music changing someone’s life – it’s certainly changing the life of animals. It is one of the things I am most proud of. I think it was quirky to call the album ‘Meat is Murder’ and it was way ahead of its time, but we were on a label that let us do that kind of thing.”

Johnny Marr, in a new book by author Neil Taylor titled “Document and Eyewitness: An Intimate History of Rough Trade” on how The Smith’s 1985 album Meat Is Murder inspired many of his fans to stop eating animals.

“In a city that is known for its exotic dancing and for being progressive and edgy, how sad that a woman would be banned from using her own body in a political protest over the suffering of cows and chickens.”

Pamela Anderson, in a statement responding to Montreal’s decision to deny her permission to unveil her new ad, “All Animals Have the Same Parts,” at a city sanctioned location, claiming it was sexist. Anderson unveiled it instead at a news conference for the Just For Laughs festival.

Each and every individual consuming an Otarian meal makes a small but meaningful difference to the planet and all its inhabitants. And if one Otarian meal saves a kilogram of carbon emissions and grain, or a litre of water or oil, imagine the cumulative benefits of Otarian eating.”

“I’ve been a life-long vegetarian, and sometimes people say, “Aren’t you curious to have a steak?” The answer is that since I’ve literally never looked at meat as potential food, a piece of chicken looks about as mouth-watering as a cardboard box.”

“I love Loyale! I wear their tops a lot, and they have great everyday pieces, which I just adore. Bahar Shahpar has beautiful skirts and dresses. Other labels I like are Organic by John Patrick (another great label for everyday pieces), Linda Loudermilk (the mother of green design can be very inventive), and EcoSkin for casual dresses.  For shoes, I love Beyond Skin, they have a wonderfully huge selection of shoes, I specifically love the vintage-y looking pieces. Olsenhaus is a new line I’m just loving. I’m obsessed with the holographic shoes! And then of course, Stella McCartney is the first big designer not to use leather. Her shoes are expensive but so worth it. They’re very well-made. Also, Cri de Coeur makes some great boots.”

“There are some seriously sexy vegetarians in this world (see: Prince). The kind folks at Peta recently asked their supporters to vote for their “sexiest Vegetarian celebrity” and today I learned I won that title, along with a dude who disproves the silly lie that Vegans cant be strong: Biggest Loser trainer, Bob Harper. I am really honored, and very inspired to continue living the vegan lifestyle that has been so good to my body, my animal friends, and the world we live in. So thank you, PETA, and thanks to all who voted for me!”

Olivia Wilde, reacting to being chosen as sexiest female vegetarian celebrity on her new website Wilde Things, which also contains information on veganism and animal issues.
