Paul McCartney has joined several celebrities in the call for Mali the elephant to be released from a Manila zoo.

In a letter addressed to President Benigno Aquino III, McCartney describes footage of Mali in the zoo “heartbreaking,” and emphasizes how a sanctuary can provide the environment a large, active animal like the elephant needs.

Where would Ben Folds spend his last summer on Earth?

The singer-songwriter is in the city to perform with the Barenaked Ladies tonight in the Mann Center for the “Last Summer on Earth” tour.

Alice Cooper is so unhappy with some affairs of the music industry, he’s blaming it on vegetarianism.

During an interview with Fuse, the rocker was asked if bands like Mumford & Sons and The Lumineers could be considered big names in modern rock.

Cooper disagrees, and if anyone thinks differently, he feels they should probably eat a steak.

Chipotle set a goal of sourcing 50% of its ingredients from local suppliers by 2010.

There’s no official statistics available on how close the Mexican restaurant chain got to this number, but in the San Diego, California area, Chipotles are doing guacamole in style with locally-grown, celebrity furnished avocados.

Singer-songwriter Jason Mraz is about as famous for his avocado farm as he is for his music and the details of his farm being a major supplier for the chain are included in Parade magazine.

Paul McCartney turned 71 this month and if there’s anyone who should be dispensing advice on turning old gracefully, it’s the ex Beatles member and singer-songwriter.

He’s not exactly sure what’s kept him going so long, but his guesses aren’t too far off from what most men might say: food and women.

“I do do a bit of exercise but it’s not like heavy work out. I’m vegetarian, I don’t know, that might have something to do with it. So I feel pretty good in myself, I really don’t know if that’s to do with it.”

Willie Nelson is once again set to perform at the annual Farm Aid concert in upstate New York.

The event features several musicians who come together to raise awareness for the small, family farm and the potential obstacles it is facing to continue operating.

It will be held on September 21 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, New York.
