Vegetarian Star

Paula Deen‘s recent controversy on the use of a racial slur has sparked many satirical skits and commentary and John Oliver from The Daily Show jumped at the chance to do the same in a segment titled “Fried and Prejudice.”

Using the Food Network chef’s history of preparing artery clogging, meat and dairy based entrees and her past health issues with diabetes, Oliver mocks Deen in several ways.

He brings out a correspondent who suggests that given her symptoms, she might have “Type I or Type II racism.”

Oliver said of Deen’s confirmed use of a racial slur:

“The n-word? Which one did she use, because I know it wasn’t non-fat? Boom!”

The contestants of Masterchef recently had the opportunity to cook for the cast of Glee.

The teams cooked three different dishes, one of which was a vegan lasagna.

The show has several regular character known to follow a vegan diet or at least enjoy vegan food like Lea Michele and Jenna Ushkowitz.

Jenny McCarthy is starring in a new ad for Carl Jr.’s that promotes its chicken salad.

Most people know celebrities change diets as often as they get cosmetic procedures, but it still needs to be stated that McCarthy has been known as a vegetarian since 2009.

The commercial is titled, “Forget You’re Eating Salad.”

Did McCarthy just “forget” she was eating chicken?

A vegan farmer and animal rights activist was given a very special gift on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to help her with her work.

Melissa Karpel was given a John Deere lawn-cutting tractor to use on a 45-acre plot of land in Michigan where she plans to grow organic vegetables.

Owner of Philadelphia-based vegan restaurant Vedge spoke to the media weeks ago about his experience on the show. It was then that he gave hints about the ingredient of the night being tempeh.

Rachael Ray appeared on Good Morning America to discuss hot dogs!

Usual dry humor was intertwined with more serious questions about why these activists do what they do and how it helps uncover abuse.

Activist Jimmy “Cody” Carlson was asked by the host if he looked like a farmer. When Carlson answered, “No,” the host’s reply was, “They why you tryin’ to f*ck with me like one?”
