Lea Michel as Rachel Berry in "Glee"

Lea Michele as Rachel Berry in "Glee"

Glee is bringing Lea Michele‘s real life characteristics into her Rachel Berry character.

On a recent episode, Rachel is lured into the parking lot by Jesse, and she experiences an onslaught of chicken fetuses to her face, or at least that’s what some chick from rival singing club Vocal Adrenaline says:

“I hear you’re a vegan, Berry. The souls of those poor egg fetuses are all on your conscience now.”

Actually, most eggs from the supermaket are the unfertilized products of a chicken’s reproductive cycle, so Miss Vocal Adrenaline needs to study her biology more between after school practices.

Unless she got them from a free-range farm where the chick and the rooster actually engaged in Hanky Panky. In that case, then, yeah, those poor would have been chickens. Free-range chickens good, killing potential chicks bad. Rachel Berry can’t win for losing.

The balm is made from 95% organic ingredients, and like other EOS (Evolution of Smooth) products, contains no parabens, petrolatum or phthalate. There’s no gluten either, so you can lick, lick away at the three flavors of  pomegranate raspberry, vanilla bean and sweet mint if you’re avoiding that ingredient too.

Besides the lip balm, the MTV Movie Awards gift bags will contain EOS ultra-moisturizing shave cream and smooth sphere lip balm with SPF 15.

EOS products are not tested on animals.

File photo of actor Gary Coleman speaking during a television interview in Los Angeles

Actor Gary Coleman has passed away at the age of 42.

He died this afternoon in a Utah hospital after going into a coma from a hemorrhage that caused bleeding inside his skull. It was his wife’s decision to remove him from life support.

Coleman was best known for his role as Arnold Jackson in the 1970s and 80s hit television series “Diff’rent Strokes,” about a wealthy Manhattan family that adopted the African-American child of their late maid before it was fashionable in Hollywood for white people to do so.

However, he starred in the 2007 A Christmas Too Many, about a dysfunctional family the actor told the Washington Post was forced to “have a vegan Christmas,” reports Vegblog.

According to DVD Talk, the usual holiday fare of deer and turkey are scarce in Malibu, which leaves the family’s best hunter to look at the guinea pigs instead, much to the disgust of his wife, daughter and his vegan son played by Austin O’Brien.

My Dog: An Unconditional Love Story

My Dog: An Unconditional Love Story

My Dog: An Unconditional Love Story is a DVD documentary exploring the relationship between people and their pets.

My Dog features several celebrities and their pet stories, including Glenn Close, Edie Falco and vegetarian singer-songwriter Nellie McKay.

McKay’s story was somewhat bittersweet, as one of her dogs, Charo, died a few months after filming was complete.

Twenty percent of the profits from DVD sales go towards an animal charity of the celebrity’s choice, and McKay chose Animals Without Borders, an organization that rescues animals in other countries and brings them to the United States for adoption.

The Chuck Season Finale was divided into two parts: “Chuck Versus the Subway” and “Chuck Versus the Ring, Part 2.”

When Joshua Gomez‘s character, Morgan, and a few other guys learn they’re going to face some pretty bad guys and might have to use a gun, they argue over who should do so.  Awesome can’t because he’s a doctor designed to save lives, but Morgan is a “lapsed vegetarian.”

Presumably, while he’s going to McDonald’s during his Buy More computer store breaks, using violence or ending another life may not be as traumatic during the “lapsed” stage.

In real life, Gomez is not a lapsed vegetarian (last we heard), and prefers his veggie burgers microwaved.

The True Blood Season 2 DVD and Blu-Ray edition has just been released and there are special features included, such as fake infomercials and The Vampire News.

One segment on The Vampire News has Tom Colicchio making an edible version of a blood drink for vampires that have stopped eating humans for ethical reasons (even the free-range humans).

Why do conventional chefs think chicken stock is a necessity in an otherwise vegetable based dish?

Who knows, but if you substitute vegetable broth for the stock, you have a completely vegan shake with fava beans for protein, spices like fennel and star anise, beet juice and other greens.

“I have a few friends that are vampires, and I’ve had this issue,” Collichio says. “We go out, and I’m sitting there through appetizer, and entree, and dessert, and they’re just kind of nursing a TruBlood. It’s a little awkward.”
