Two years ago Chrissie Hynde met JP Jones at an art party in London. Jones suggested the two collaborate in songwriting together which led Hynde to do something she hasn’t done in decades–form a brand new band, Chrissie, JP Jones & the Fairground Boys.

Now the pair is embarking on another collaboration. They plan to launch a vegan clothing line in the fall, according to Spin Magazine.

No other details were revealed in the interview, but let’s hope that between the two of them, creative, ethical and possibly even professional attire for both sexes will be available to those with the highest clothing standards.

A performance of Chrissie and JP singing “If You Let Me,” can be viewed above.

Joan Jett
Joan Jett opened the contents of her grocery shopping cart to Dr. John Briffa in The Guardian’s regular feature of “What’s In Your Basket?”

Being vegetarian, Jett’s food didn’t bring too much criticism from Briffa, even the Olive Oil who’s virginity is doubtful. More on that later.

“Versatile and tasty oil is very rich in so-called ‘monounsaturated’ fat that is believed to have benefits for the heart and cardiovascular system generally. Olive oil also contains ‘phenolic’ compounds, that protect the body against freed radical damage, and have been linked with a reduced risk of some forms of cancer including breast cancer.”

Here’s hoping Jett has genuine “extra virgin olive oil,” as a new study indicates as many as 2/3 of the olive oils on the shelves claiming to be EVOO, were found to be a mix of cheaper oils like canola and nut, as reported in an LA Times article called Lab Tests Cast Doubt On Oil’s Virginity.

If anyone had doubts that a vegan Italian restaurant can work in the midwest, Chrissie Hynde proved them wrong. The singer owns The Vegiterranean in her hometown of Akron, Ohio, where the Parmesean on the menu is “Rawmesan”–a completely animal free topping, not to mention Gardein faux meat for the chicken, meatballs and other proteins.

Chrissie shared one of her favorite vegan pastas, linguine with portobello mushroom ragu with wholewheat pasta, vegan Parmesan, onions, tomatoes and red wine.

“I add rosemary, but oregano or thyme would also work,” says Chrissie of the substitution.
