Heather Mills must be one of those self-punishing workaholics.

Besides her charitable work with children in the Bronx, she recently opened her own vegan restaurant, V Bites, and took over the vegetarian food company Redwood Foods.

Now, Heather has started her own sustainable clothing line, B@1, which will feature recycled charity shop clothing.

The line will launch August 27th at the Highlands Hollywood in association with the charity event Celebrity Catwalk.

Be sure to check the website for B@1 frequently, as more updates are promised to appear.

Bethenny Frankel Mocks Gwyneth Paltrow’s Cooking Skills

Bethenny Frankel Visits Macy?s Herald Square

Well…

We certainly know who thinks she’s the “Real Housewife” here.

Bethenny Frankel recently took the opportunity to diss Gwyneth Paltrow’s attempts to demonstrate cooking dishes.

From nydailynews.com:

“I’d rather staple my eyelids shut than watch Gwyneth cook,” the chef told us during the launch of her bottled Skinnygirl Margaritas at the Montauk Yacht Club on Saturday.

She added, “Gwyneth is afraid to [reveal] who she really is – she’s so manhandled by publicists and managers. Her show would be way too boring to watch.”

It’s getting hot in the kitchen!

We have chided Gwyneth so many times for her professing to follow a vegetarian diet, then recommending all sorts of meaty dishes on her Goop.com website.

On the other hand, Bethenny has long been a favorite celebrity chef for including so many vegetarian and vegan recipes in her repertoire.

Neither are vegetarians. But at least Bethenny doesn’t pretend to be. Not to mention she’ll be showing her homemade buns for the animals real soon.

BTW, here’s an example of one of Bethenny’s vegan delights, Low Fat Fudge Chocolate Chip Muffins. Grab the recipe, here!

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, August 10th, 2009 in Chefs, Food & Drink, Models.

Heather Mills stands against cruelty

Heather Mills doesn’t take a day off!

According to PEOPLE, while the vegan restaurant owner was relaxing in the Hamptons, she took the opportunity to educate people on a vegan diet.

“Even at lunch today, at the Southampton Beach Club, the people sitting next to me were having cow’s milk,” Heather said. “So I said, try soya. It’s better for you. And I brought them a little care packet.”

It wasn’t mentioned how receptive the guests at the Southampton Beach Club were to Heather’s suggestions, but hey, who can turn down a beautiful blonde?

“This year, we’re starting to make our own raspberry ice cream at Dirt Candy and will use Cascadian Farm berries. They’re never bland-they have a pure raspberry flavor that rivals fresh berries. In fact, they’re so sweet, hey need little or no added sugar, even if you eat them plain.”

Amanda Cohen, former chef for Moby’s Teany and owner and chef of Dirt Candy vegetarian restaurant in New York city.

Amanda was one of several chefs asked by Vegetarian Times what organic products could be found in their kitchens.

Cascadian Farm not only has the organic raspberries you need this summer, but all the other vegetables you need to eat until your pesticide-free heart is content.

Samuel L. Jackson Reveals Love Of Salads To Celebrity Chef Shaw

Celebs arrive at the 2009 ESPY awards in Los Angeles

Veg man Samuel L. Jackson recently revealed his secret to staying trim and lean.

The actor who has appeared in films such as Pulp Fiction, Shaft, and Star Wars says he eats a variety of salads, according to celebrity chef Nikki Shaw.

Shaw has graciously posted a salad recipe on MomLogic.com, a Spinach Confetti Veggie Salad.

“Be very careful: “salads” can be deceiving!” Shaw warns. “If you’re choosing to eat salads to keep the pounds off, watch out for those delicious high-calorie dressings and fattening toppings. Lower calorie dressings like vinaigrette, Italian, or good ole olive oil and balsamic vinegar are better choices.”

Whip up a salad that would make Samuel proud with Shaw’s recipe below.

SPINACH CONFETTI & VEGGIE SALAD (Makes 4 servings)

1 6-ounce bag of fresh baby spinach leaves
½ cup tomatoes, diced
½ cup yellow bell pepper, diced
½ cup carrots, diced
½ cup mushrooms, diced
½ cup balsamic vinaigrette dressing

1. Place spinach, tomatoes, yellow bell pepper, carrots, and mushrooms in a large bowl.
2. Drizzle dressing on salad and lightly toss.

Heather Mills Has No Time For Long Locks Anymore

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, August 3rd, 2009 in Business, Chefs, Models, Restaurants.

Heather Mills stands against cruelty

Heather Mills has been sporting a sleek, short hairstyle for some time and she has recently revealed that not only does it serve the purpose of giving her a new look, but it’s much easier to manage now that she’s swamped with the business of her new vegan cafe, V Bites.

“I decided I had no more time to keep drying my hair with having to work late and get up early for the new V-Bites café and restaurant, factory, travelling, school drops, etcetera, so I chopped it off back to how I had it in my twenties.”

“I asked a local village hairdresser if she would do it, and thought what the hell. She did a great job. I love it. It’s easy. I now just wake up and run my fingers through my hair, as it’s a just-got-out-of-bed look – after a great night in bed, of course!”

Of course, Heather’s new do surely requires less products to maintain it, which means less waste in terms of packaging.

And you thought she couldn’t get any greener with her vegan diet!

Incidentally, if you’re thinking about emulating Heather or just getting a haircut in general, why not donate your locks to Locks of Love, and provide hairpieces to disadvantaged children suffering from medical hair loss.

Heather Mills’ Daughter Beatrice Publicly Calls Out Meat Eaters

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, July 30th, 2009 in Chefs, Children, Models.

Heather Mills Launches V-Bites Restaurant

Ah, children.

So sweet, innocent, and cute.

Until they’re old enough to talk about how you do everything wrong.

But we can’t help but giggle and cheer for the fact that Heather Mills’ daughter with ex Beatles singer Paul McCartney, Beatrice, likes to question people about their eating habits.

On a trip to Southern France, Heather, Beatrice, and Paul were shunned by their fellow guests because their daughter couldn’t stop asking people why they were eating animals.

“Beatrice questions everybody who eats animals,” Heather said. “When we were in the south of France, there was a buffet for kids, and by the end of the week no one would sit near us because she would go over and say Why are you eating that cow’s bottom?’ or Oh, look at that little shrimp with little eyes’.”

An outspoken activist in the making.
