Martha Stewart Says A Vegetarian Meal Is Worth Making

Martha Stewart‘s first vegetarian cookbook, Meatless is the latest chatter on the Internet through veggie blogs and forums.

The ideal that one of the biggest household names in celebrity chef and home decor has devoted over 200 recipes to a plant-based diet says a lot about how mainstream the diet has gone.

Stewart spoke with Miami New Times about the trend she thinks will make more chefs realize a vegetarian meal is worth creating.

“Look for things that are on special. Look for vegetables you can buy in bulk. Go to ethnic stores. Ethnic stores are a great source of fruits and vegetables. I buy all my avocados at a Spanish market. So look around — there’s a lot of sources of good food in places you wouldn’t necessarily be shopping.”

Martha Stewart, to the Houston Chronicle, on finding affordable ways to add more fruits and vegetables to your diet.

Stewart’s latest cookbook, Meatless, is a great way to start practicing the art of add more bargain veggies to every meal.

“The Taste” Vegan Commentary Summary

The Taste

After it’s premiere last week, it appears that The Taste is treating vegans like many other reality cooking shows–avoiding them like vegetarians avoid the vegetable soup with chicken broth.

LA Weekly discussed whether or not veganism will have a strong place in this season’s episodes.

The judges may have their reservations, but the show’s producer is hopeful.

The Chew

The Chew celebrated Meatless Monday today and Daphne Oz, Mario Batali, Clinton Kelly and Carla Hall showcased their favorite vegetarian recipes.

Instead of sharing one great recipe of the day, why not attempt to make all of these?

Daphne and Clinton both have veggie burgers recipes that will leave no one missing the ground beef. Clinton even has a recipe for real, old-fashioned fried onion rings you can place on top of either meatless patty.
