Vegetarian Star

Avril Lavigne has been known to go and make things complicated when it comes to her status as a vegetarian, but this really takes the vegan cake.

In her hometown of Napanee, Ontario in Canada, at La Pizzeria Pizza and Spaghetti House, there’s a pizza named after her. Avril was a regular there, eating lots of slices of mushroom, olive, and pepperoni pizza. Yes, pepperoni.

And although Avril has associated herself with being vegetarian, she still rides the roni when she visits home, according to pizzeria co-owner Bill Kosmopoulos.

“She still has pepperoni on it,” said Bill, referring to the pizza Avril eats when she stops by occasionally. 

This story is sorta reminiscent of vegetarian Alec Baldwin joking around with the New Yorker saying he shot and smoked deer meat and ate it every morning. Only this story sounds true.

“In East Hampton, I’m a nudist and I eat meat,” Baldwin—a vegetarian—had said before my visit, expanding on the idea that he lived a quite different life on Long Island than he did in New York. “I shoot deer with a bow and arrow. I smoke the deer meat and eat it every morning with my eggs and toast. I am a homosexual. I listen to rock music, loud.”

Insert Avril’s name and change a few of the specifics and you get:

“In Napanee, I chow down on the pepperoni and live a quite different life than I do in the states.”

Ah, voting is the beauty of a free country.

Some say the college years are the best times of their lives. Deirdre Imus, radio talk show host Don Imus’ wife, possibly made one of the best decisions in her life in college.

While attending Villanova university, Deirdre became very interested in correlations between the environment and health. She soon learned a vegetarian diet played a huge factor.

Deirdre and Don run a ranch in New Mexico designed to give the American cowboy experience to children with cancer or blood disorders or who have lost a sibling to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. The menu on the ranch is strictly vegan and only natural, non-toxic cleaners are used.

Deirdre has her own name in the business world without Don as well. She is the Founder and President of  The Deirdre Imus Environmental Center for Pediatric Oncology® at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey, as well as the author of several bestsellng books.

Gossip blogs can be so cruel.

Bossip.com spied model Julie Henderson and Russell Simmons looking cozy and wrote up a post titled, “Digging For Gold,” implying that Henderson was looking for Simmons to be her sugar daddy.

Simmons wrote back and said:

“I read this morning your headline, “Digging for gold” with a picture of me and Julie Henderson saying that the picture was taken last week at some food event. This “digging for gold” photo was taken last night @ my apt. The event was a fundraiser for the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding…so you’re right we were digging for gold! The honoree was LL Cool J. The organization promotes religious and racial harmony. It is a deep investment of my time, passion and money. Currently, the main focus is Muslim/Jewish relations and we have 52 programs in America where imams speak in synagogues and rabbis speak in mosques We are also spreading this work all over the world. The folks at Chef’s Secret on E. 45th Street in New York city have what you call an obsess-much for vegan actress Natalie Portman.

It seems they’ve named a salad after her. But like Emmylou Harris wasn’t too pleased with being told she was like bacon and made everything better, Natalie probably wouldn’t be too thrilled at the “Natalie Portman” salad consisting of “lobster, seaweed and strawberry served with Wasabi and Japanese mayonnaise.”

What on earth is this craziness? You might call it honoring. You might call it disturbing. One thing’s for sure: Any fan of Natalie who loves her enough to name a salad after her should know not to name a SEAFOOD salad after her.

Heather Mills was spied having a meal at L.A.’s Vegan Glory with daughter Beatrice and a “male friend” who we’ll assume is Jamie Walker.

Hmm…Does this mean Heather has talked the meat loving Jamie into going veg?

“They seemed to be in good spirits,” the source said. “Beatrice was singing all throughout the meal.”

Vegan Glory food sounds like a supper to sing for!
