Lipton Tea Stops Testing On Animals

Activism works. And sometimes it works quite quickly.

Last month, we brought you the news about Lipton conducting animal tests with its teas in an effort to prove the beverage treated several ailments like high cholesterol and bowel issues. Unilever, the parent company of Lipton, has made the announcement it is no longer conducting these tests on animals, which included specifically breeding the animals to have certain medical conditions and purposely exposing them to toxins to see if Lipton tea would cure these conditions.

Kanye West Fatburger Business Falls Flat On Its Fat Face

Kanye West‘s attempts to turn residents in the Chicagoland area into burger lovers has failed.

West’s company, KW Foods, LLC, developed 10 Fat Burger restaurants in the region, but after a year and a half of doing burger business, the first of the restaurants has already closed due to financial performance.

Did West not pick up on the trend that Americans are just not that into meat anymore?

Colin Farrell Brings Ellen DeGeneres’ Vegan Birthday Cake (Video)

Colin Farrell is the best birthday party crasher!

The actor appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to bring her a large, vegan red velvet cake for Ellen’s 53rd birthday.

According to Ecorazzi, the cake was especially baked for Ellen by Sweet Lady Jane bakery in West Hollywood. This is the same bakery that made Ellen’s wedding cake, which was also the red velvet variety.

Good to know the sweet lady Jane is so flexible and vegan friendly!

In-N-Out Secret Vegetarian Menu And Oatmeal Tacos (Video)

In-N-Out supposedly has a secret menu that is not so secret.

Okay.

After Patch discussed their experiences with ordering off the covert menu, CNN repeated the experiment to see if they could get world class customer service by ordering and receiving items like, “Flying Dutchman,” “Rootbeer Float,” and “Animal Style Fries.”

It worked.

On that secret menu includes a veggie burger, which isn’t really a burger, but vegetables between a bun. There’s also a grilled cheese–basically the same as the veggie burger but the cheese is melted.

Not bad for a fast food establishment. But can we do better? In the words of the current U.S. president, “Yes, we can!”

Michelle Obama‘s “Let’s Move” campaign that promotes better food choices and exercise has influenced officials to embark on a plan to make packaged foods healthier, change labels to help consumers recognize better choices, combat the excessive consumption of dessert foods, make healthier foods more affordable and increase charitable support to nutrition programs.

Almond Milk

It’s time to tell the cow to moooo over.

The Wall Street Journal recently featured an article on the soaring popularity of almond milk.

Many people, and not just vegans, are opting for the nutty drink as an alternative to dairy and soy for both taste and health reasons. Its presence on the shelves helped fuel a 13% growth in non-dairy milk alternatives, according to SymphonyIRI Group, a Chicago market research firm.

And according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, dairy beverage consumption has been declining for years.
