Lindsay Lohan Considers PETA’s Vegan Offer To Pay For Rehab

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, November 1st, 2010 in Actresses, Food & Drink.

Lindsay Lohan is seriously considering PETA’s offer to go vegan if they help her pay for rehab.

The animal rights group had agreed to pay her $10,000 if she went vegan during rehab, and another $10,000 if she stayed vegan for the entire year, which would cover a little less than half of her tab of $53,000 at the Betty Ford Clinic.

According to Radar Online:

“Lindsay is seriously considering the offer from PETA. There is thoughtful consideration about PETA’s very generous offer. Lindsay loves animals, and looks at it as a ‘win-win’ since being a vegetarian is a healthier lifestyle that she is striving for.”

Pamela Anderson is one hot activist. Not just good looking, but “hot,” as in she has a tireless passion for helping both animals and people. The longtime vegetarian has recently announced she’s donating the money from her most recent Playboy Cover shoot to Waves 4 Water, a charity that brings clean drinking water to people who have trouble accessing it.

Water is something the bottle carrying wealthy and industrialized world takes for granted, but according to Water.org., the liquid necessity is so hard to come by in a sanitized state in other parts of globe, every 20 seconds a child dies from a water-related disease. Water.org provides several other interesting facts on its website.

Daniella Monet recalls the day she had to dissect an animal in class.

“The one memory I have, as far as dissecting goes, is in elementary school. I cried—a lot—and I was actually sent to the nurse’s office, and I used the phone to call my mom and say that I couldn’t do it.”

“It’s gross. It’s sad. I do think teachers should provide an alternative…And if kids stand up for themselves … it’ll definitely make a world’s difference.”

Hoping other adolescents won’t go through the same experience, Monet is posing in this PETA ad titled, “I Choose Not To Dissect.”

If you’re looking for an alternative to dissect for yourself, your child or students, you should know…there’s an app for that!

The Frog Dissection application by Emantras Inc. gives the educational experience of science class minus the guts and flesh of a real animal and having to fight with your ethics or the school board on making the decision to dissect.

Pippa Black, actress on NBC’s Outsourced, is voicing her concern for factory farms in her PSA for vegetarianism done for PETA.

“Factory farming is a breeding ground for disease,” Black says. “These animals are living in their own wastes.”

And that’s just the beginning.

Like many PETA videos, Black’s testimony is mixed with images from real farms, demonstrating the horrors that animals endure, such as chickens being de-beaked and cows being branded.

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, October 25th, 2010 in Actresses, Film & TV, Food & Drink.

As a vegetarian for 28 years, Lisa Edelstein has been through times when it was difficult to get something meatless while away from home. But who would have thought that in 2010, it would be hard to find something vegetarian on the set of House?

As Edelstein explained to Popeater, the producers of the show don’t have a large budget for food, and she often ends up bringing her own food to the set because “food is sort of crappy.”

Living in New York City, Lea Michele sees horse-drawn carriages on a regular basis. And while some may feel it’s innocent entertainment or tradition, the actress took to Alicia Silverstone‘s blog, The Kind Life, to urge readers to take a stroll through city parks by foot instead–and possibly get the horses to a sanctuary.

“My biggest trouble these days are the poor horses in Central Park. Living in New York City, I see them sadly standing on the sides of busy streets with their heads right in the asses of the horse right in front of them! They walk in the rain, snow, and heat, pulling people all day long, rarely getting proper food, water or care.”

“If you live in New York, next time you’re walking down Central Park Blvd. and you see tourists considering going for a ride, suggest to them that they take a stroll through Strawberry Field instead–the horses cant go through there-or rent a bike…or now they even have people who ride bikes and have seats for people on the back! It’s so much more fun.”
