Liam Neeson Ready To Move In With Horses: 5 Star Stable

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, January 26th, 2009 in Actors, Animal Issues.

When non veg celebs have word wars with veg ones, things can get ugly.

The latest heated debate is between Liam Neeson and several celebrities often involved with animal rights causes, like Chrissie Hynde and Alec Baldwin.

Hynde, Baldwin, and others have launched a protest against the horse-drawn carriage industry in New York, claiming the horses are mistreated, due to the long trips they make pulling heavy loads, cold and frigid weather conditions, and everyday spooks that are encountered from traffic.

Liam thinks all this is nonsense and equates the horse stables to the Hilton, in more or less words.

“Seriously. If you’ve ever seen these stables… I’d move in tomorrow,” he said.

A comment like this obviously angered PETA officials, who responded by saying:

“Liam, maybe you’re right, let me ponder this for a moment… It does seem like horses would prefer to endure the freezing cold and the panicky booms, noisy traffic, and exhaust fumes of the city over living in a lush pasture.”

“And you’re right, they probably much prefer the whips, shouting, heavy gear, traces, and lack of water in the troughs as well as the long shifts trudging for hours and pulling strangers in a half-mile circle all day without rest over living a natural life. Makes sense, right?”

There are documented cases of accidents and injury, both to the horse and human, in the industry. Has anyone out there had extensive experience with the horse drawn carriage industry? Do you feel horses are treated appropriately? Have you witnessed abuse and injury to the animals? Give us your thoughts!

Meatless Mouthful: Russell Brand To Be Celibate Vegan

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, January 26th, 2009 in Actors, Comedians, Meatless Mouthful.

Premiere Of Disney's

“I’m really getting tired of materialism. I don’t reckon I’ve got more than two or three years. I’ve burned out drugs. I’m burning out sex. I don’t even know what I’m doing yet. I’m not ready. I’ve got to be in a position where they can’t go, ‘Didn’t he f*** that stripper? Didn’t he go to that lap-dancing club?’

“There can’t be any of that around. That’s all got to go—until I’m in a position where I can say, ‘Look I’m celibate, I’m a vegan. All I do is meditate, come out and do stand-up and make films.’ ”
—actor and comedian Russell Brand, in an interview where he claims to sleep with 80 women per month.

But all that is supposed to change soon. Let’s not hold our breath, though, for the Vegetarian Starter Kit Cover bad boy.

Barbie Orr-Kristine Reinhard Full Of Vegan Bull?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, January 24th, 2009 in Actors, Comedians, Couples.

John Cleese in an advert for a Polish bank

A few days ago, we brought you the news of how Monty Python comedian and vegetarian John Cleese was dating vegan entertainer Barbie Orr, who claimed to be 27.

Just like people who eat only chicken claim to be vegetarian.

Turns out, Barbie Orr may be full of Barbie bull. Heck, why are we still calling her Barbie? An investigation made by the Daily Mail revealed her real name is Kristine Reinhard and records in the US, also obtained by the same news site, show she was born in 1964-placing her at 45.

Poor John put himself through so much, thinking he had to keep up with a 27 year old-hair plugs, extra vitamins, dental treatments. At least he didn’t have to buy any, ahem, enhancement apparatus, as Barbie/Kristine was very satisfied with that area.

A friend of Cleese told the Daily Mail, “It’s all very embarrassing for John. He’s a proud man, but he is also a sucker for a pretty face. I think a few of his braver friends have warned him to be careful, because nobody wants to see him being made to look silly.”

John has nothing to be embarrassed about. A 69 year old vegetarian who’s looking pretty darn good, hilarious, and in good health. If Heff can convince young women to adore him, we’re sure John will have no problem picking up another woman proclaiming she is young enough to be his granddaughter.

Just ask for a birth certificate next time, John.

Now, for the most important question: Did she lie about being vegan?

Brandon Routh Not Doing Porno, But Gaining Vegan Psychic Powers

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, January 23rd, 2009 in Actors.

Premiere Of Weinstein Company's

Superman star Brandon Routh, who had a comic role in Zack and Miri Make a Porno, is set to gain “vegan superpowers” in the upcoming movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

What the heck are vegan superpowers? Do you automatically know if a product has dairy in it without asking? No. Turns out, some people feel they gain psychic abilities after they become vegan. But the abilities have more to do with being in touch with the world and nature and more in tune with your interpersonal relationships.

Not to worry lacto-ovo guy, you’re vegan girlfriend doesn’t know your checking out her sister. Well, she does, but it has less to do with her being vegan and more to do with your eyes following her sibling’s butt when she walks into a room.

The movie is adapted from a series of comedy/action/romance comic books about a 20s something bass player in a band who falls in love with a girl, but has to defeat her evil ex-boyfriends in order to date her. We’ve all been there before.

Routh plays Todd Ingram, one of the evil exes. Interestingly, in the comic book series, Ingram secretly consumes non vegan products.

Not sure if other comic book psychic vegans picked up on his secret eating habits.

John Cleese’s Vegan Barbie Orr Impressed With His Package

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, January 19th, 2009 in Actors, Comedians, Couples.

AARP Magazine's Seventh Annual Movies For Grownups

John Cleese, the British actor most strongly associated with starting the Monty Python group of comedians, has a new much younger girlfriend who is, how should we say this, quite impressed with his goodies despite being an older man.

The 69 year old vegetarian has a 27 year old girlfriend, Barbie Orr, who happens to be vegan.

She says Cleese has the “package of a 19 year old” and she’s not talking UPS either.

“I can’t get into what he really looks like naked, but for an old guy, you know, they’re normally saggy down there, but he really has a nice package,” she told the UK Mirror.

Of course, you veg men out there know his great package has to be due to his diet, right? Even Barbie doll agrees, saying he “eats really well and he works out.”

Although there’s quite an age difference between them, Barbie is sure this will last forever. Or until he dies.

“I won’t have to break up with him and break his heart. I just have to go to his funeral!”

It might be awhile, Barbie. A plant based diet can make a man last really, really, long.

And not just in the bedroom.

Joaquin Phoenix Rap Video: A Vegan Vanilla Ice?

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, January 19th, 2009 in Actors, Male Singers, Videos.

Joaquin Phoenix recently retired from the acting business to concentrate on a career in singing. But is it really singing?

This video shows Joaquin…rapping? Is a vegan Vanilla Ice in the making?

Phoenix and fellow vegan buddy Casey Affleck were at the LAVO club at The Palazzo in Las Vegas recently, where Phoenix sure looked a hell of a lot different than he did back in his younger Christmas video making days.

Before his gansta performance, Phoenix enjoyed a specially prepared vegan meal in the LAVO private room.

We asked you before if you thought Joaquin would do well as a singer. Here’s your chance to re-judge his abilities.

We’re out of here. Word to your mother.

Stephen Colbert Pokes Fun Of PETA’s Sea Kittens Campaign

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, January 18th, 2009 in Actors, Comedians, Not So Vegetarian, TV Hosts, Videos.

Stephen Colbert thought it would be fun to satirized PETA’s Save The Sea Kittens Campaign, and gave a “Tip of the Hat” piece of advice to the animal rights group.

“Save The Sea Kittens” is designed to get people to stop eating seafood by making fish seem as cute, adorable, and intelligent as cats.

Colbert admits that normally he’s not a fan of PETA because if “scientists can’t squirt shampoo into a rabbit’s eyes, then how would I know what shampoo to squirt into my rabbit’s eyes,” he sarcastically said.

Stephen decides to rename other animals with vegetarian names so that they’ll seem more acceptable to eat, including calling cats “landfish,” cows “field potatoes,” and owls “sky nachos.”

The “Tip of the Hat” starts after a minute and a half into the video.

Safe to say he’s not buying into the campaign. Bet Jeremy Piven is, though.

Celebrity Big Brother contestants

Many of us are pinching pennies in the recession and the contestants of Celebrity Big Brother 6  are no exception.

The group, which includes notables like La Toya Jackson and Verne Troyer, were recently faced with buying groceries on a reduced budget and were arguing over what foods should be put on the shopping list.

Ulrika Jonsson suggested talking La Toya into compromising and eating some tuna and salmon because it’s cheaper.

Troyer protests that La Toya isn’t trying to be difficult in her eating choices, but that she’s vegetarian and they shouldn’t force her to eat meat.

Apparently, she’s been doing it anyway.

Jonsson later told other house mates that “Verne was so quick to stand up for La Toya and make the point that she is a vegetarian, has a strict diet and needs her salmon,” she said.

“But, well, vegetarians aren’t supposed to eat fish in the first place, and La Toya even ate turkey mince yesterday.”

You’d think that La Toya could have the rules bent and bring in her own food in order to stick with her diet.

But as we learned with the Amazing Race, Reality TV ain’t always pretty to those who aren’t omnivores.
