Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, July 5th, 2010 in Animal Issues, Models.

Elle Macpherson

Just because all supermodels get nose jobs doesn’t mean they should require Rhinos to get them too.

Reports from Celebitchy say Elle MacPherson has angered animal rights activists after an interview with the Times Online revealed she takes Chinese medicine made from crushed and grounded rhinoceros horns. And these nose jobs don’t come with anesthetic, we assure you.

Times Online: You’re said to be a great fan of Chinese medicine. What does powdered rhino horn taste like?
EP: A little bit like crushed bone and fungus in a capsule. Does the job though.

Justin Gaston Ben Elliot PETA "If I Can Dream"

Well, well, well.

Miley Cyrus‘ controversial Vanity Fair photos are nothing compared to her ex boyfriend Justin Gaston‘s latest photo shoot with Ben Elliot to promote People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and the television series that follows aspiring musicians on their way to fame, If I Can Dream.

PETA people are known for nakedness, so it’s easy to figure out the idea here is either vegetarian, stop wearing fur, etc., but beyond that, it’s not really clear which campaign these guys, along with model Giglianne Braga, are promoting, other than bedroom freakiness. More nakedness down below (ha, ha great pervert pun).

Gordon Ramsay joked he would put his kid on a fence and electrocute him if he went vegetarian. Now another celebrity chef with a taste for both fine food and foul mouth has shared how he would react if his daughter went meatless.

Anthony Bourdain told the Miami New Times he will cope with the situation by making her smell pork every day. Lovely.

“I’ll say, “It’s a phase! It’s a phase!” I will live with it. I will love my daughter. But I will cook bacon around her every day.”

Bourdain had better get ready to grab the faux ham instead, because according to the LA Times, his daughter is a good candidate for going veg 10 years from now.

Bob Barker “Larry King Live” On Whaling (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, July 5th, 2010 in Animal Issues, Film & TV, TV Hosts, Videos.

Bob Barker‘s visit to Larry King Live was, as expected, phenomenal!

Hard to believe the octogenarian is keeping a pace most men half his age would struggle to compete with.

Barker sat alongside Sea Shepherd captain Paul Watson and explained why he gave $5 million to fight whale harpooning.

Harper and other activists probably breathed a sign of relief when the International Whaling Commission recently rejected a much publicized proposal to turn over a 24 year moratorium on commercial whaling.

Nicole Richie Supports Healthy School Meals Act

Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie is one of the greenest celebrity moms out there, known for being super-strict about buying organic products for the family, eating less meat, and composting. It’s no surprise she’s one of a slew of celebrities backing the Healthy School Meals Act, a bill that would provide regular vegetarian and dairy-free beverage options to more schools.

Richie and her partner, Joel Madden, recently opened a Los Angeles garden for school children and suggests this is yet another way government can give schools the kick they need to churn out healthy, intelligent adults.

“It’s wonderful to teach children about good nutrition and show them how to grow vegetables, but it’s even more important to ensure that they actually have an opportunity to eat these healthier foods on a daily basis.”
