Britain’s Got Talent Amanda Holden: Low Fat Food Has No Talent!

Childrens Champions 2009

Who said vegetarians eat lettuce, sprouts, and plain tofu all day?

British actress Amanda Holden became famous for her role as Sarah Trevanion on “Wild at Heart” and is a judge on Britain’s Got Talent.

“I’m vegetarian, but I love my food,” she told the UK Times Online.

“I don’t believe in having low-fat spread in the fridge, and I do indulge in a pudding, and I do like a bit of Stilton when I’m having posh dinners out.”

Her guilty pleasures include “butter” and “wine” but we’re not sure if she necessarily puts those together.

Luckily, she is a natural outdoors gal who would rather jog with her dog than stay cooped up in an artificial gym setting. This exercise routine seems to be working for her, as she ran the London Marathon last year.

Candice Bergen’s Half Assed Vegetarianism

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, March 13th, 2009 in Actresses, Not So Vegetarian.

Premiere Of Picturehouse's

It’s Friday the 13th! Ooooh, are you scared? Are you superstitious?

Candice Bergen wrote up her fears on wowowow.com, where she revealed meat being really the only one.

However, we already know chicken doesn’t scare her, but at least she’s admitting to her “half-assed vegetarian” ways.

“Something I do have oddly strong feelings about, bordering on the superstitious, is eating any kind of four-legged animal. Also some two-legged, like duck. I will never eat duck. And I haven’t eaten pork or beef (especially veal) for 35 years. This started because I suddenly started to find people carving into these bloody haunches of meat so disturbing. And after walking through the former huge market square in Paris, with hundreds of carcasses hanging side by side, it just repulsed me and I decided to keep my own half-assed vegetarianism. I don’t mention it at dinners. I just eat around the meat. I’m not a pain in the ass, but I cannot eat meat now — even some that looks and smells delicious, like barbecued ribs or prosciutto — without feeling like I am betraying animals.”

“So it is almost a superstition. I guess it’s more a personal idiosyncrasy. A principle I won’t break.”

Maybe chickens should learn to go “quack, quack,” and Candy won’t eat them.

Anne Hathaway Enjoys Veggie Sushi With Beau Adam Shulman

81st Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

She said she ate meat while dating her ex now in prison boyfriend Raffaello Follieri because it was “easier for the lifestyle” at that time. Now Anne Hathaway may find it a little easier to keep up her “vaguely” vegan diet.

The actress was spotted having a vegetarian sushi meal with new boyfriend Adam Shulman at M Cafe in Los Angeles.

The two met last year at a screening for Hathaway’s Rachael Getting Married movie.

Hathaway went vegetarian (again) last year shortly after her breakup with Follieri.

Shulman has starred in films such as The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning and appeared on television shows such as “The West Wing.”

Kristen Bell Doesn’t Flex Mussels With Friends

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, March 12th, 2009 in Actresses.

The Alzheimer's Association's 17th Annual

We already know that Kristen Bell doesn’t mind sharing company with omnivores. She doesn’t even mind sharing her crockpot with their food.

So it’s no surprise that she was seen out and about with friends at a seafood restaurant in New York, Flex Mussels.

Her friends ate way too much sea kitten, but Kristen helped herself to a helping a Flex fries.

Everyone in the group got to enjoy the same dessert-homemade donuts to go.

Wonder if Kristen thought about speaking up and going to a different restaurant with more vegetarian options? Looks like she got caught in a Patrick Stump steakhouse situation.

Or she could just love those Flex Fries.

Vegetarian Cicely Tyson Treats Body Like A Car

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, March 11th, 2009 in Actresses.

Heart Truth - Runway - Fall 09 MBFW

Cicely Tyson isn’t a woman who takes to lying in bed too well. So she does everything she can to stay healthy, which includes following a strict vegetarian diet.

While talking to the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette, the subject of diet came up for the 75-year old actress who’s played roles in The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, Roots, and Tyler Perry’s Madea. She’s set to star in the Hallmark Channel original movie, Relative Stranger this weekend.

Q: I understand you are a strict vegetarian, and you keep yourself fit.

A: That’s mainly because I am not a good patient. (Laughing.) I do not like not feeling well. We have a tendency to give all the love and care to material things. I mean, if you have a Rolls-Royce and you pull up to a gasoline station, you don’t put crud in it. You put the most expensive oil and gas in your car. You want it to be treated well in order for it to serve you well. We should start thinking that about this body of ours.

Awesome metaphor, Cicely!

What have you guys been revving up your cars with lately?

Amber Benson Twitters Her Veggie Udon Snacking

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, March 10th, 2009 in Actresses, Celebrity Tweets, Food & Drink.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Celebrities are taking full advantage of Twitter these days, serving as their own paparazzi.

Amber Benson, the actress best known for playing Tara Macclay in the TV series, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, recently Twittered (or is it Twitted?) what she was chowing down on to get her strength up before a book signing event.

“Eating veggie udon to get my strength up before the 4 o’clock signing at the Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore in San Diego.”

Yes, this gal is multi-talented. Actress, writer, film director, and film producer who considers herself one of those “pescetarians,” although she was full time vegetarian for 14 years.

Amber’s recent Twitter entry makes a little more sense than vegetarian screen star Russell Brand, who humorously claimed to be an inhumanely farmed animal who milked himself, the ingestion of cheese made from his own products rendering him not fully vegan.

“Vegetarian Elite” Daryl Hannah Found Bonuses To Meatless Diet

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, March 2nd, 2009 in Actresses, Videos.

Harry Benson Retrospective Hosted By Architectural Digest

Who doesn’t love a little Daryl Hannah?

Vegetarian, eco-friendly, and cute all in the same package, this actress was recently profiled by Supreme Master TV as one of their “Vegetarian Elite.”

Daryl made the decision to go vegetarian at only 11 years of age because she couldn’t stand to bite into animal flesh, but soon found benefits beyond her personal taste. As an environmentalist, her lifestyle made a bigger impact on the planet than she realized.

“I became a vegetarian at 11 years of age because I could no longer associate the food I was eating from the creature it had been,” she said. “And I just couldn’t gnaw on the flesh of creatures anymore. It grossed me out. The health and environmental benefits turned out to be a bonus. Often I find when I do something from a purely compassionate place, aspects I never considered seem to benefit as well, illustrating how we are truly connected to all life.”

Watch the video to learn how Daryl played on the boys’ soccer team in school, because there wasn’t one for girls!
