He’s not quite wearing the crown yet, but Russell Brand is currently in second place for the title of Mr. Twitter Universe. Given his bad boy history, this honor better not be something that can be rescinded at the drop of a scandal, or he’s in big trouble.

A Russell fan has compiled a list of reasons why you should vote for him, which includes his love for animals.

“Russell has been a vegetarian since his teens, is a doting and devoted pet owner to his beloved cat Morrissey, and has twice been named Europe’s Sexiest Vegetarian by PETA. He’s currently in the running for Sexiest Vegetarian Alive – in fact, while you’re at it, pop over and vote Russell Sexiest Vegetarian Alive, too.”

Of course, Russell also has his own troupe of strippers @BrandyStrippers, so you know he’s the best man for the job.

Mmmm…who doesn’t love Indian buffets? All the naan, curry, and samosas your belly can hold. Not to mention most other Indian dishes are veggie too.

Vindaloo is usually made from pork, wine, and garlic. But actor and co-host of reality TV show Australian Idol, Andrew G., found a veggie version he shared with mom one evening.

“Dinner with Mum. A vegan vindaloo. I’m warm on the inside from both experiences.”

Can there be nothing better than a veg man who loves his mom? Ladies, unfortunately, he’s already taken and married to actress and producer Noa Tishby.

In a recent interview with GQ magazine, Dark Night Terminator dude Christian Bale has admitted to some less than vegetarian ways.

Bale failed to pay his membership dues to the veg club shortly after completing filming for American Psycho.

The bodybuilding and unbuilding you’ve done for your roles is alarming—the former all the more so for its being accomplished without any animal protein.
Actually, I’m in and out of the vegetarianism now. But yeah, the majority of the building up you’re talking about was done when I was still a vegetarian.

Dietary reasons? Or something to do with the character?
I was up in Toronto and went to see that movie Life Is Beautiful. By myself. And when I came out, I had a craving for blood unlike anything I had ever experienced since I decided to go vegetarian at the age of 7. It was a compulsion. It was undeniable. I went to several restaurants, one right after the other, and got the biggest, bloodiest steaks I could get my hands on. It was the first time I had tasted flesh in almost twenty years.

Argh! Life is beautiful, but not so much for animals when Christian gets his vampire cravings for bloody steak.

Why the change of heart (less), man?

Who watched The Mentalist this weekend?

Unfortunately, it’s all business on the show and Owain Yeoman doesn’t strip down to his goodies like he did for his vegetarian public service announcement.

However, a little bit of veggieness snuck its way on a recent episode, Red John’s Friends.

After “The Mentalist” Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) helps an innocent man named Jared get out of jail, the agents drive away with the newly freed ex-prisoner, planning to utilize him to help them catch a serial killer, Red John.

The group gets slowed down as they drive through a huge mob of animal rights protesters with anti-fur signs.

Coincidence? Or is Owain putting his two cents in for suggested scenes?

We had something for the guys earlier but today it’s a better ladies’ night than free cover and half off drinks.

Owain Yeoman, star in the CBS television series, The Mentalist, bares his chest for a PETA vegetarian ad.

The actor has recorded not one, but two different PSAs that you can watch, as well as an additional video over at peta.org.

Paula Abdul sang that opposites attract, but with Owain’s case, that seems to be false. He has an animal loving wife, Lucy Davis from The Office, who’s bared some skin for PETA’s Unbearable Cruelty campaign, meant to stop the use of bear fur in the hats worn by the Queen of England’s guards.

Ah, what beautiful activist children they will spawn.

Ah, the list of annual chores to complete. Doctor check-ups, taxes, and voting for the sexiest vegetarian celebrity.

It’s that time again where Hollywood’s meatless get turned into pieces of meat and compete in PETA’s annual Sexiest Vegetarian contest.

As always, there’s both a male and female category and Mr. I Cook Meals At Home Milo Ventimiglia is vying for your votes, competing against people like Tobey Maguire, Russell Simmons, and Bryan Adams.

Hopefully, the ladies won’t get into too many catfights, as some of the veg sex kittens in the ring are Alanis Morissette, Carrie Underwood, and Chelsea Clinton.

You say potato. I say tomato. We say Who Would You. Fancast says “Would You Rather.”

Fancast.com recently asked a series of situational questions to Better Off Ted co-stars Jonathan Slavin and Malcolm Barrett. Better Off Ted is an ABC comedy about a research company that investigates futuristic type ideas like test tube meat. 

Would you rather eat beef without cows or pork without pigs?
MB: I don’t want to eat any of those things. You [Jonathan] eat beef without cows now! Tofu and seitan!
JS: He says he wouldn’t eat any of those things, but I’m telling you, the first lunch break we had he’d be like ‘I’m hungry.’ He’d put them on a tortilla and go to town.
MB: I’d wrap it up.

Would you rather spend eternity on a deserted island with Portia De Rossi or Jay Harrington?
MB & JS: [together] Portia!
JS: Portia and I are both gay vegans, so we have so much to talk about.
MB: I just think at some point she’s got to get naked.

Of course, if only Portia and Jonathan were stranded on the island together, at least it wouldn’t be hard to decide on what to eat for dinner every evening. Unless, Jonathan demanded berry soup and Portia wanted leaf stew. Television stars can be divas.

OMG! Like, Bernadette Peters is taking over our job.

We like to wish our veggie celebrities Happy Birthday when it’s their time, and it looks like Bernadette Peters is ahead of the game.

The actress gave actor Matthew Modine some vegan birthday cake at the premier of Passing Strange.

Hope Matty enjoyed his cake. The next most obvious question is…is Matthew a vegan? Or does he just like his cake anywhere he can get it? Maybe he couldn’t turn down goodies from the lovely Bernadette.
