Kellie Pickler Is So Cheesy

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, January 8th, 2010 in Female Singers, Food & Drink.

UPI POY 2009 - Entertainment.

Sure, Kellie Pickler may have been following a “healthy” vegetarian diet for the past couple of years, thanks to another American Idol alumnus, but that doesn’t mean she always chooses the best combination of foods to eat.

Krispy Kreme, cheese and wine make up a big portion of her food pyramid, according to The Boot.

“I love cheese!” Pickler said. “I could eat just blocks of it. … Velveeta Shells and Cheese, cheddar cheese, wine and cheese. It’ll be the death of me. That and Krispy Kreme. Every time that ‘hot’ sign is on, buddy, I’m pulling right through that drive-thru. They know me down there. They’re like, ‘Oh, it’s Pickler again. She’s comin’ back for more!'”

Whoa there, Kellie.

Calcium may be great for the bones, but what about the saturated fat found in cheese and other dairy products ?

One of Kellie’s New Year’s resolutions is make more use of her treadmill.

After a workout on the human hamster wheel, maybe Kellie will reach for whole grain pasta with vinaigrette instead of Velveeta Shells and cholesterol.

Kellie Pickler And Turkeys Cool With Each Other

2nd Annual ACM Honors

Kellie Pickler made a Tweet about the new stray animals that keep coming back to her place.

“thanksgiving is right around the corner. funny how all the turkey’s hang out in my yard. I guess they know I’m a vegetarian.”

Ah, must be nice knowing there’s a vegetarian safe haven on the planet in the midst of millions of other turkey beheading Sarah Palin households.

BTW, if no turkeys are showing up in your backyard, you can still have a pet of your own through the Farm Sanctuary Adopt-A-Turkey program. For $25, you can sponsor a turkey living at the sanctuary.

Although it’d be great if you guys could be pen pals, currently calligraphy isn’t taught to the birds on the sanctuary.

Yes, there’s a recession, but is Kellie Pickler really in need of another day job?

Or is she suiting up for her Halloween costume?

Pickler tweeted this pick of herself, calling it the Pickler-dog (vegan style).

Pickler took this while playing around in Target, so you might be able to go as a veggie dog this Halloween too.

Be sure to research which candies have dairy products in them, vegans.

Kellie Pickler Sparks Veggie Hate Among Country Folk

2009 CMT Music Awards - Arrivals

She hasn’t held her title for even a month and already controversy is happening.

No, Kellie Pickler hasn’t been found in revealing photographs of her chomping on hamburgers after winning PETA’s Sexiest Vegetarian Contest. But there are some that wish she would.

Amanda Nolz at Beef magazine recently blogged on the Beef Daily blog (Seriously, we’re not kidding. We know you’ll want to bookmark that in your browser as well as subscribe to the Beef Daily e-newsletter.) that Kellie was an example of a country music star who had turned away from country values.

Just like evil Carrie Underwood who donated funds from her American Idol elimination song to the Humane Society, Kellie is ruining everything country. Well, shame on her!

“Well, it’s no secret that I’m not a fan of Carrie Underwood, a vocal vegetarian who actively teams up with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), and you’ve heard me rant and rave about the “Oprah Effect,” where anything Oprah says, the world listens to as fact. It’s unfortunate that others like Kellie Pickler are now following suit. Time and time again, these celebrities stand up and against America’s food producers, heightening an already troubling outlook consumers have on farmers and ranchers.”

“Even though we don’t have fame, fortune and our faces on the cover of magazines, farmers and ranchers have the capability to feed 144 people each year. We have the determination and drive to produce a safe and wholesome product to feed the world. Agriculturalists are truly people to look up to, and today, I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and tell your story. It’s time we let our voices be heard. Who’s with me?”

Uh, not us. But anyway…

It must be tough for someone from some parts of the U.S. South, farming background or living in the heart of “cattle country” to go against the grain and be veg. Kudos to them.

Are you a cattle rancher kid who went wild and became veg, much to the disappointment of your friends and family?

Kelly Clarkson Vegetarian Idol Now!

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 in Female Singers, Videos.

Wow. Talk about what’s been happening “since she’s been gone.”

Kelly Clarkson is vegetarian now and has been one for about a year.

During a recent interview with Trent FM UK, Kelly’s interviewer was talking about his experiences in Amarillo, Texas, where the world’s biggest steak-72 ounces-is served.

Kelly said, “My friends have kind of disowned me a bit in Texas because I’ve been a vegetarian for over a year now.”

Don’t worry Kelly. Fellow Idol winner Carrie Underwood knows your pain.

“You can’t be a vegetarian in Texas,” the interviewer jokingly objects.

“I tried it and it’s been really great…So a 72 ounce steak might make me barf,” Kelly continued. “It’s so much better now. I feel better,” she added.

The interviewer concluded by pleading with Kelly to “eat some steak, please,” telling her she was missing her nutrients. Ha! Smart gal Kelly responded that “you get enough nutrients [from things] like beans and everything.”

We’ve got Kelly Clarkson, Kellie Pickler, Carrie Underwood, and off the wagon trying to get back on Ruben Studdard in the veg American Idol club.

Kelly’s new album, All I Ever Wanted, is set to be released in March.

Listen to the video to hear the interview and Kelly talk about her fake red carpet smile. The vegetarian part of the conversation starts around minute 4:45.

Kellie Pickler Is One Skinny Bitch

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, January 23rd, 2009 in Female Singers.

The 42nd Annual CMA Awards - Show

We already know she’s a Donna Salyers’ Fabulous Fake Fur Girl, but “Don’t You Know” Kellie Pickler’s a Skinny Bitch as well.

The country music star and former American Idol contestant told That’s Fit she packed on almost 30 pounds in less than a year after going on tour with American Idol.

“We were always eating fast food on the road and having late night munchies,” she said. “I gained 28 pounds in less than a year!”

Kellie said she had to learn to “eat right,” and she did so by reading vegan authors Kim Barnouin and Rory Freedman’s Skinny Bitch, a book about the vegan diet and lifestyle.

“I appeared on the Ellen Degeneres show and we chatted about it. She told me about the book Skinny Bitch which was both really enjoyable to read and easy to understand.”

Kellie realizes the importance of following the skinny bitch diet as well: health. Although she lost her unhealthy excess fat, she realizes no diet will create a one size fits all body. She still has and loves her curves.

“I love my curves. No matter how thin I get, I always have my curves.”
