Heather Mills Teaches Vegan Sustainable Living At UCLA

Genesis Awards 2009

Heather Mills went back to school!

This month she visited the UCLA campus to talk to students enrolled in Sustainable Product and Service Design (Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering 188).

Heather discussed her environmental efforts from recycling prosthesis to designing her recycled clothing line to the importance of a vegetarian diet on the environment.

“You can’t be an environmentalist and eat beef,” she said and added that 60% of greenhouse gases come from meat production and dairy farming.

More from ucla.edu:

“As a witness to the health benefits of veganism, Mills called upon her bodyguard Ron Ayala. A carnivore for many years, he was “converted” to veganism, lost 35 pounds and claims to feel much better.”

“Mills also owns an organic food company which has just produced a plant-based omega-three tablet, thereby debunking the commonly held perception that this popular health food can come only from fish.”

“The students listened with rapt attention and peppered Mills with questions after the lecture. Many were interested in details of her diet and how it could be integrated into societies that suffer from poverty or that rely on meat consumption.”

This may have been the best tuition value UCLA students have gotten all year.

Cause you know they’re not getting what they pay for when using the meal card to purchase the mushy dormitory hall spaghetti.

Congrats are in order to Heather Mills and the staff at her recently purchased Redwood Wholefood Company.

Redwood was recognized for creating the Best Ready to Eat Meat Alternatives at a Viva! 15th anniversary dinner party recently.

“I am very proud to accept this award from Viva! representing The Redwood Wholefood Company,” Mills said.

“We pride ourselves in offering the very best in meat-free alternatives and will continue to strive to create foods which guide consumers towards a kinder, more compassionate and low-carbon lifestyle.”

Redwood Wholefoods is based in Corby in the UK and offers a plethora of meat alternatives from beef, chicken, pork and seafood.

Will the employees of Redwood celebrate with a Cheatin’ Roast?

Heather Mills Wants Better Conditions On Australian Pig Farms

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, September 12th, 2009 in Animal Issues.

Heather Mills is not happy with the conditions pigs endure on farms in Australia, and is calling for Aussies to either buy free range pork or no pork at all.

“My heart breaks for the sad lives most pigs in Australia endure before being slaughtered,” Heather said.

“If someone kept a dog in this way they would be prosecuted.”

Heather is asking for help from animal activist Jaylene Musgrave to help change laws that will improve factory farm conditions for pigs.

Interesting that Heather is not only supporting discontinuing the consumption of pigs, but eating pigs raised in better conditions as well.

As a vegan and activist, is Heather taking a good approach realizing not everyone will stop eating pork?

Or should she be pushing vegetarianism completely?

Now would be a great time for Heather to promote her Organic Pork Style Sausages from Redwood Wholefoods Company.

Heather Mills Blasts Jamie Oliver For Male Calf Castration

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, September 11th, 2009 in Animal Issues, Chefs.

Vegan Heather Mills isn’t showing any love for fellow Brit Jamie Oliver.

The celebrity chef recently castrated a male calf and ate its testicles on his television show Jamie’s American Road Trip.

And Jamie’s show doesn’t involve any reality TV eating challenges, either.

Using the power of the Twitter, Heather wrote:

“I’m horrified watching Jamie Oliver castrate calves and eat their b*****ks, how low can you go, he says they taste like Scampi!”

Director of Animal Aid, Andrew Taylor, agrees with Heather.

“The public is convinced Jamie Oliver is the real deal but hopefully this barbaric act will open their eyes to the fact he is a phony when it comes to animal welfare,” Taylor said. “He pretends he cares about animals but this makes an utter mockery of that. Castrating cattle in this way is vicious and grotesque and he’s giving credibility to an ugly trade. If he thinks this is good prime time TV he has been duped.”

Jamie’s rep defended the chef’s actions by saying the show is meant to show the British public the different aspects of American cuisine and life.

A regular part of American cuisine and life? That’s it! Cow testicles must have been the “mystery meat” in your school lunches growing up.

“Jamie is on his American road trip to observe and to learn and to show the viewing public some parts of America they might not know about. Jamie is well-known for his championing of better welfare for animals and has had awards from many animal welfare groups.”

Guess Jamie thinks his awards are a free get out of animal cruelty jail pass.

Heather Mills vegan cafe VBites opens in Hove, Brighton, UK

Treehugger has compiled a list of their favorite celebrity green businesses and vegan star Heather Mills made the cut.

Not only does Heather run her little vegan cafe and restaurant in the UK called V Bites, she also recently purchased Redwood Wholesale Foods.

And that just makes Heather greenalicious!

From Treehugger.com:

“Last month we reported that Heather Mills opened Vbites Café, a seaside vegan establishment in the U.K. offering unique meatless meats and vegan favorites–accompanied by vegan and organic wines and beers. At the time, we had also caught wind of a potential new vegan frozen food business. While we at TreeHugger were skeptical over the motives, Heather Mills’ Web site now confirms that Mills is indeed the new owner of U.K.-based Redwood Wholesale Foods. And she isn’t stopping there: The company hopes to soon bring their meat-free brands to the U.S. for distribution.”

It’s no surprise a vegetarian business made the eco cut.

Meat’s not green and never has been.

Go Heather for making green so darn tasty!

Heather Mills Has No Time For Long Locks Anymore

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, August 3rd, 2009 in Business, Chefs, Models, Restaurants.

Heather Mills stands against cruelty

Heather Mills has been sporting a sleek, short hairstyle for some time and she has recently revealed that not only does it serve the purpose of giving her a new look, but it’s much easier to manage now that she’s swamped with the business of her new vegan cafe, V Bites.

“I decided I had no more time to keep drying my hair with having to work late and get up early for the new V-Bites café and restaurant, factory, travelling, school drops, etcetera, so I chopped it off back to how I had it in my twenties.”

“I asked a local village hairdresser if she would do it, and thought what the hell. She did a great job. I love it. It’s easy. I now just wake up and run my fingers through my hair, as it’s a just-got-out-of-bed look – after a great night in bed, of course!”

Of course, Heather’s new do surely requires less products to maintain it, which means less waste in terms of packaging.

And you thought she couldn’t get any greener with her vegan diet!

Incidentally, if you’re thinking about emulating Heather or just getting a haircut in general, why not donate your locks to Locks of Love, and provide hairpieces to disadvantaged children suffering from medical hair loss.

Heather Mills’ Daughter Beatrice Publicly Calls Out Meat Eaters

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, July 30th, 2009 in Chefs, Children, Models.

Heather Mills Launches V-Bites Restaurant

Ah, children.

So sweet, innocent, and cute.

Until they’re old enough to talk about how you do everything wrong.

But we can’t help but giggle and cheer for the fact that Heather Mills’ daughter with ex Beatles singer Paul McCartney, Beatrice, likes to question people about their eating habits.

On a trip to Southern France, Heather, Beatrice, and Paul were shunned by their fellow guests because their daughter couldn’t stop asking people why they were eating animals.

“Beatrice questions everybody who eats animals,” Heather said. “When we were in the south of France, there was a buffet for kids, and by the end of the week no one would sit near us because she would go over and say Why are you eating that cow’s bottom?’ or Oh, look at that little shrimp with little eyes’.”

An outspoken activist in the making.
