Vegetarian Pamela Anderson Going Dancing With The Stars

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, February 5th, 2010 in Actresses, Reality TV.

6th Annual Hollywood Style Awards

Pamela Anderson has just signed on to compete in the reality TV show Dancing with the Stars.

A source told Radar Online, “Pam is thrilled and so is the show.”

“She really wanted to do the show and the show thought it was a great idea,” the source added.

Is Pamela looking to imitate vegan Heather Mills, who’s dancing on ice this season on an equally popular UK celebrity reality television show?

It’s almost certain that the vegetarian Pamela will request cruelty-free costumes–no leather, fur or wool.

Fellow competitors should also expect some PETA pamphlets left in their dressing rooms.

Kristen Bell arrives at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles

So you already know, actress, great vegan cookbook author and eco goddess Alicia Silverstone loves gardening in the nude.

But did you know another veggie, Kristen Bell, likes to do her work in the buff as well?

Kristen has confessed to being “free-spirited” and makes breakfast nude.

Her latest film, When In Rome, features Kristen playing a woman visiting her sister in Rome, who suddenly draws the attention of several suitors.

Ironically, one of them is a billionaire sausage maker, played by Danny Devito.

Vegetarian celebrities have been known to introduce fellow cast and crew members on a film set to the wonderful world of meatless.

Bet if Kristen cooked fake sausages in the nude, every male on When In Rome would give up steak instantly.

Think being vegetarian is only easy if you live in NYC or Cali?

Ha!

Leilani Munter proves that wrong, as she and her husband reside in North Carolina and have no problem finding good grub.

From TheGoodLifer:

Now, you are a devoted vegetarian living in Cornelius, North Carolina. How do you make that work? I imagine many post-race dinners and such are held in some not so veg-friendly establishments?

“We cook a lot at home but I have actually found that pretty much any restaurant you go to these days has something vegetarian on their menu. In the rare event where there is not a vegetarian meal on the menu, if you ask the chef, they will usually whip up something amazing. I think the chef’s enjoy it too because they get to be creative.”

You didn’t think a self professed “vegetarian  hippie chick” would let a little geography get her down, did you?

Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell arrive at the 67th annual Golden Globe Awards

The best things in life are free and educational.

That’s why Paul McCartney put a copy of his narrated PETA DVD, Glass Walls in each of the presenters and nominees bags at the Golden Globes, according to Contact Music.

The video provides an inside look of the meat industry.

“I’ve often said, ‘If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be vegetarian,” McCartney said.

“Animals raised on modern factory farms and killed in slaughterhouses endure almost unimaginable suffering. I hope that once you see the routine cruelty involved in raising, transporting, and killing animals for food, you’ll join the millions of people who have decided to leave meat off their plates – for good.”

Could McCartney convert some Golden Globe attendees?

Shanna Moakler Learns Vegetarian Cooking

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, January 11th, 2010 in Actresses, Food & Drink, Models.

SUMMIT ON THE SUMMIT: Kilimanjaro Pre-Ascent Event

Victoria Beckham‘s been made fun of on here more than a few times due to her inability to cook more than mince meat pie while claiming to be a vegetarian.

Now, Shanna Moakler joins the club of veggies who need cooking lessons.

But at least she’s not teaching herself to cook pork roast for the children.

With the exception of her fish eating tyke, Shanna’s kids eat veg, just like she and Travis.

“I actually just started a cooking class. I go every Wednesday,” Shanna told Celebrity Baby Scoop. “My kids are vegetarians. Atiana is agua-vegetarian (she eats fish), but I love to cook.”

So if she’s not making mince meat, what’s Shanna doing in the kitchen?

“For breakfast: quiche! And my kids love it. I also love pasta. I make it fun for the kids and let them dip their pasta into their sauce. My kids love to cook as well and we make homemade pizza together and cookies. It’s one of my favorite things to do with them: cook!”

Maybe Shanna should pick up a copy of two popular vegetarian cookbooks, The Kind Diet or The Conscious Cook to accompany her in the kitchen next time.

Travis Fran Healy Pays Paul McCartney Vegetarian Royalties

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, January 10th, 2010 in Food & Drink, Male Musicians, Male Singers.

Travis Performs At The Wiltern

When Paul McCartney agreed to perform on TravisFran Healy‘s solo album, Healy paid McCartney back in a gift worth more than a million dollar record contract.

Healy, his wife and one year old son have all turned vegetarian, the singer wrote on his blog, according to The Guardian.

“Nora [Healy’s wife] and I were sitting and thinking of a thank-you present and I suggested going vegetarian. Our son is already one, so it would mean we would all be on the same boat. I met Paul at his show in Berlin and told him what we wanted to do. He was visibly flabbergasted. Three days later the FedEx man delivered three Linda McCartney [vegetarian] cook books.”

Healy says he doesn’t miss his old diet and enjoyed hummus this past Christmas.

“I haven’t had any longing for meat or fish yet.”

It’s fantastic that Healy made a decision that’s better for the health of his family.

Sure  hope he keeps it up.

Going back to cheeseburgers may be a breach of contract worth years of court time over intellectual property.

Alicia Silverstone, Ellen DeGeneres Make Whole Foods Popular

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, January 10th, 2010 in Food & Drink.

Alicia Silverstone The Kind Diet Book Launch Party

There are numerous reasons why people are including more unprocessed foods in their diets, including the fact these foods are a cheaper, healthier and more gentle on the environment and animals.

But could Alicia Silverstone‘s cookbook The Kind Diet, Ellen Degeneres offering her recipe for vegan tacos and Alanis Morissette talking about kale have an effect on how the grocery budget is spent in the next few years?

Says a statement from prweb:

“Celebrities and sports figures are defining the trend. Well-known stars and musicians, including Ellen DeGeneres, Alicia Silverstone, Alanis Morissette, and Moby share their plant-based dietary choices. Athletes on a whole foods diet have a performance edge without steroids. A sampling of athletes sticking to a diet based on whole foods includes Brendan Brazier, ultra marathon champion, Ruth Heidrich, triathlete with over 900 wins, Pat Neshek, Minnesota Twins pitcher, and Salim Stoudamire, Atlanta Hawk’s shooting guard.”

Has a famous veggie influenced the way you cook at home?

Or is learning the Prince Fielder bats like a vegan news to you?
