As a child, what snack did you love so much, you were willing to forgo an entire month of Saturday morning Smurfs?

Erykah Badu’s daughter, Puma, doesn’t seem to be that picky about her favorite munchie. As long as it’s vegan.

Erykah recently made a CelebrityTweet:

“puma keeps asking for vegan snack after snack …i oughta do like my mama and tell her , “.. gone . gone and eat em all then they’ll be gone.”

With all the unhealthy snacks kids ask for these days (chips, soda, cookies, oh my), Erykah should at least be thankful little Puma knows what good!

Of course, having a mom who grows her own herbs and is so big on holistic health doesn’t hurt.

Ah, rumors. The good, the bad, the ugly, and the downright outrageous.

Like the one about Michael Vick and PETA being chums now and he’ll be starring in one of their provocative advertisements.

Not true at all. 

PETA withdrew its offer to team up with Vick for TV spot. Why the cold shoulder from the animal loving group?

Oh, just some Vick talk here and there stating he enjoyed placing family pets in the rings with fighting dogs and laughed as the dogs mutilated each other.

Yeah, you could call that quite an  irreconcilable difference. 

From PETA’s blog:

“PETA believes that this revelation, along with other factors in the report, fit the established profile for anti-social personality disorder (APD), so in January we called on NFL Commissioner Goodell to require that Vick undergo a brain scan and a full psychological evaluation before any decisions are made about the future of his football career.”

“What can I say? You can’t believe everything you read.”

The European Parliament voted to ban the import of seal products, including coats and even some omega-3 pills.

According to news.yahoo.com:

“The EU ban will apply to all products and processed goods derived from seals, including their skins — which are used to make fur coats, bags and adorn clothing — as well as meat, oil blubber, organs and seal oil, which is used in some omega-3 pills.”

The ban is an effort to pressure Canada to end its annual seal hunt.

Many notable celebrities have voiced their concerns over Canada’s Seal Hunt, including Pamela Anderson, Paul McCartney, Ryan Reynolds, Brigitte Bardot, and Bryan Adams.

OMG! Like, Bernadette Peters is taking over our job.

We like to wish our veggie celebrities Happy Birthday when it’s their time, and it looks like Bernadette Peters is ahead of the game.

The actress gave actor Matthew Modine some vegan birthday cake at the premier of Passing Strange.

Hope Matty enjoyed his cake. The next most obvious question is…is Matthew a vegan? Or does he just like his cake anywhere he can get it? Maybe he couldn’t turn down goodies from the lovely Bernadette.

The ever so funny man of AFI, bassist Hunter Burgan, recently blogged a list a quotes by famous vegetarians.

Hunter decided to add his profound quote on vegetarianism:

Phish’s bass player and vocalist Mike Gordon Tweeted about his love of vegan carrot kugel.

Kugels are awesome traditional baked Jewish dishes that feature vegetables, fruit or other starches, and a thickening agent.

In an effort to get closer to the immortal status of rock stars, we decided to search for a recipe for vegan kugel, that, upon ingestion, would make us famed musicians and send millions of fan mail and driveling women to our doorstep.

We found a Vegan Potato and Carrot Kugel recipe that we’ll have to try in the near future.

The guys at hypebeast.com got to meet up with skateboarder Danny Garcia and decided to go out for some grub at an eating establishment called Shake ‘Em Buns (which was obviously created by someone with too much innuendo on the mind).

Shake ‘Em Buns, located in Hong Kong, has some pretty X-rated sounding burgers including Debbie Does Dallas, Cushin’ For Pushin’, Gang Bang…okay we’ll stop before Google Safe Search blocks us.

Danny, a vegetarian, chose the “Sissy Boy,” which is what Shake ‘Em Buns calls their vegetarian burger.

Sissy Boy? Really, Shake ‘Em Buns, you can do better than that.

Danny’s choice of a meatless patty puts no cholesterol in his system and less saturated fat than a regular burger, therefore lessening his changes of developing diabetes and other diseases that can contribute to impotence.

He’ll be the only “sissy” who can actually do Debbie Dallas if he wants.

Actor and environmentalist Ed Begley Jr. will be the Keynote speaker at the Carnegie Science Awards in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this Friday.

Ed plans to tell everyone to get involved with science, as awareness of the discipline can help the environment tremendously.

“If we had a good scientific awareness … I think the environment would fare better,” Begley said, according to pittsburghlive.com.

He cited numerous activities he took up to save money as a young adult that inadvertently lessened his environmental impact, including going vegetarian, riding a bike, and recycling. Doing these activities, he claimed, can really help you “move up the ladder.”

“When you save money from that, as I did, then you can move up the ladder and maybe buy some attic insulation, double-pane windows or a rain barrel,” he said. “It took me 20 years to be able to afford solar panels.”

Go veg now and in the next 20 years you might be able to show off your flashy solar panels to your envious neighbors.
