Alice Cooper Urges Meat For Better Rock and Roll

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, July 16th, 2013 in Male Musicians, Male Singers, Not So Vegetarian.

Alice Cooper

Alice Cooper is so unhappy with some affairs of the music industry, he’s blaming it on vegetarianism.

During an interview with Fuse, the rocker was asked if bands like Mumford & Sons and The Lumineers could be considered big names in modern rock.

Cooper disagrees, and if anyone thinks differently, he feels they should probably eat a steak.

“I’m not entirely sure who understands and who doesn’t understand what it is that we’re doing, but something I wanted to do with those pro-vegan shirts, was to create a very poppy, very palatable image that draws people in and that will appeal to people and then have it juxtaposed with a very serious message – to really drive that message home. Because if you’re drawn in with something pretty and then you’re met with something serious you’re already there. I think it would be difficult to not understand the message of those shirts but a lot of people are really obtuse, so there’s no saying.”

AFI Davey Havok Bad British Food Experience

AFI Visits fuse TV's "Distortion"

Traveling to a foreign country is exciting, but challenging.

In between recovering from jet lag and studying the “How To Learn X Language” book in the car, there’s barely enough time to find good food.

AFI‘s Davey Havok says he had a problem eating vegan in London, but not due to lack of food establishments.

“I figured there would be lots of vegetarian restaurants out there, and there are Indian restaurants and there are a few vegetarian restaurants,” Havok told Vancouver’s Straight. “It’s just that they’re not good. It’s still British.”

Ouch!

Don’t offend any vegan British fans there, Dave.

They probably already know where to get good meatless grub like falafel at Hummus Bros or the seitan stroganoff at the 222 Veggie/Vegan.

“I really think for the good of this world that, if I could have it my way, the whole world would be vegan and straightedge. So that’s why I feel it’s important to create an awareness of this lifestyle, create an awareness of the choices people make. To bring awareness about those lifestyles can bring a positive change, if only on the level of an individual.”

AFI “The Five”–Five Facts About The “Crash Love” Rockers

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, October 27th, 2009 in Bands, Videos.

AFI got together to give their fans an episode of “The Five” at mtv.com.

“The Five” is pretty much self-explanatory, five things you may or may not have known about AFI.

Half the band is vegan and the other half is vegetarian, for example.

“Some people know that about us, some people don’t,” said Jade Puget, guitarist who’s vegetarian. “But we do try to live a mostly cruelty free lifestyle. And that is the most important part of our band and our personal life.”

Once bassist Hunter Burgan also challenged Paul McCartney to an air bass competition. No winner was declared, so we suspect there should be rematch any day now.

Watch the clip above to learn about the guys’ 7 inchers and pick up a copy of their latest album, Crash Love.
