Isabel Lucas Went Vegetarian After Watching “Earthlings”

Women's Fall 2010 Calvin Klein Collection After Party

Isabel Lucas may have two men to thank for her going vegetarian.

The actress stopped eating meat after watching Earthlings, a documentary narrated by Joaquin Phoenix at Red Hot Chili Peppers front man Anthony Kiedis‘ home.

“I don’t feel limited by not eating meat. I eat lots of veggies and pasta and nuts, tofu and soups,” she was quoted by Popsugar as saying.

Being the environmentalist she is (she climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise awareness of the lack of clean drinking water in many areas), it’s no surprise Isabel would take the natural step by not participating in something that largely involves the very earth unfriendly practice of factory farming.

“Looking after the environment and doing things in nature was really an integral part of my life growing up. I love the environment and I want to be able to protect it.”

CUN Academy Awards Celebration Dinner & After Party - Arrivals

Ruben Studdard invited the company of a vegan chef over recently.

From a recent Tweet:

“Yall I have a Vegan Chef coming over tonight to teach me how to make a few dishes. Check out my blog site tonight for pictures of the meal.”

Ah, to have your own personal veggie chef…No more frozen beans and rice dishes.

Will Ruben hire a permanent personal chef like Red Hot Chili Peppers front man Anthony Kiedis?

If you’re in the San Fransisco area and in need of a personal vegan chef, why not give Jesse Miner a call?

A longtime vegan himself, Jesse has been featured in VegNews magazine and received the Personal Chefs Network 2008 Pacesetter Award.

Gretchen Ryans Little Pretty Exhibition OpeningThe world’s most famous Skinny Bitch, isn’t stingy when it comes to causes she cares about.

Rory Freedman, co-author of the famous Skinny Bitch series, has offered to donate $5,000 to peta2 in her mother’s honor, but only if you help her out.

Rory will match donations, dollar for dollar, up to $5,000 for every bit you donate to Peta2.

Let’s say you found a machined washed $10 bill in your winter coat after giving it the final cleaning for the season. Like Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers would say, “Give it away, give it away, give it away now.” Rory will donate her $10 (although maybe not as washed out and wrinkled) to match your money!

Mother’s Day doesn’t last year round and neither does this donation challenge. You have three days to dig those coins from the couch cushions.

Visit the Facebook cause page to donate now!

Candice Bergen Can Reduce Herself To Seitan After Chicken, Fish

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009 in Actresses, Food & Drink.

Premiere Of Picturehouse's

When Candice Bergen was asked by wowowow.com, “Are you eating more organic food than you were a year ago?” he response was:

“I haven’t eaten red meat for 40 years. I wish I could give up chicken (except free-range) but then I’m down to fish which seem a) tainted, and b) endangered. By the way, I don’t not eat meat mainly for health reasons but also because I had an epiphany walking through Les Halles at the age of 23 that eating meat is disgusting, arrogant, oblivious and unconscionably cruel. Moving on … I try increasingly to eat only organic veggies and fruit.”

Talk about wowowow! We’re glad she’s aiming for organic fruits and veggies, but does the former Murphy Brown and Boston Legal star actually think she only has chicken and fish left after red meat? What is it about some people that can only use one hand to count the number of protein source available to them?

After chicken and fish, she’s down to seitan, tempeh, tofu, pasta, beans, yogurt, legumes, nut butters, grains, and not to mention the dozens of fake meats.

Surely, as famous as Candice is, she could even hire a personal vegan chef like Anthony Kiedis did to whip up all things completely vegetarian-not just excluding red meat-in her kitchen.

Anthony Kiedis HBO TV Series Should Show His Vegan Journey

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, February 26th, 2009 in Male Musicians, Male Singers.

Anthony Keidis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and a friend go for a bike ride in Malibu, Ca

Red Hot Chili Pepper Anthony Kiedis is heading for the big screen.

The story of his life is set to be turned into an HBO TV series, taking place in L.A’s  rock & roll culture in the ’70s. There are hints that the title will be similar to his autobiography Scar Tissue and much of it will focus on his childhood growing up with his father and the path he took to illegal drugs.

“I think it will make for an interesting TV show,” Kiedis told Entertainment Weekly. “I’ve already shed my tears and yelled. The painful part is all behind me. Now it is fun. It is a project I get to do with my father later in his life — when he is ready to reflect.”

But wouldn’t it be fantastic if the movie also hit on Anthony’s vegan diet and lifestyle?

The singer went vegan after watching a video on factory farming. In addition, a doctor recommended his son follow a vegan diet due to health issues he was having.

As legendary as the Red Hot Chili Peppers are and with Kiedis’ popularity, showing segments of his vegan journey could have millions googling the word the week the movie’s released.
