Treehugger.com has compiled their list of celebrities with the best green homes and two vegetarian stars, Daryl Hannah and Ed Begley Jr. are on the list.

If you have the privilege of visiting Daryl, you might chill on her moss covered stone that doubles as a couch in her almost entirely solar powered home.

And if you think Daryl’s moss couch is wild, Ed Begley Jr. gets really crazy with a white picket fence made from recycled milk jugs!

Have lunch with Ed with food cooked from his solar powered oven which sits outdoors and be sure to check out his rain water barrels while (hopefully) someone else is doing the cooking.

There’s nothing worse than cruising in your ship in the ocean, hair blowing in the wind and trying to impress the eco ladies, when you get pulled over by the PoPo…For a ridiculous 30 year warrant!

Sea Shepherd Captain Paul Watson and Whale Wars star was arrested in Portugal while attending the International Whaling Commission (IWC) Conference for a 1980 ramming by the Sea Shepherd of the pirate whaling ship the Sierra.

However, since the warrant actually expired in 2008, Watson was released shortly.

Also recently, vegetarian actress Daryl Hannah, who joined the Whale Wars crew this season, was also arrested, but it had nothing to do with whales.

She and 31 people, including NASA climate scientist James Hansen and former U.S. Rep. Ken Hechler, were arrested during a display of civil disobedience at a mountaintop removal protest in West Virginia.

The video above shows Hannah in the action.

Meatless Mouthful: Daryl Hannah On Choosing One Cause

Screening Of Home At Stella McCartneys Store - Arrivals

“You know, a lot of people say: ‘What are you? An environmentalist? A humanitarian? We’re confused.’ They want to put you in a little box. They don’t understand unless you pick one thing and that’s your thing — unless you say: ‘I’m fighting for all shoes to be vegan shoes.’ I just can’t work that way — it’s all interconnected to me, and what I’d like to do is help people understand that interconnection — that if you buy a T-shirt from a chainstore, it may have been made with sweatshop labour, it may have been made by little kids, it definitely took more than nine years of drinking water to make that T-shirt, and it probably was processed with a whole bunch of chemicals as well. That’s sort of what my challenge is — to help people understand that everything you do, or everything you don’t do, has an effect.”

—-Actress Daryl Hannah, in an interview with independent.ie, on what she says when people ask if she has a focus.

It’s hard for an environmentalist to eat steak and chicken every day and not look like a hypocrite. Ditto for vegetarians who don’t buy leather-free shoes. And whether you buy the locally grown produce that took less fuel to get to the dinner table or make the choice to walk those few blocks instead of revving up the car-everything has an effect.

Paul Watson and his crew are at it again for another season!

The eco-pirate Animal Planet show Whale Wars is a portrayal of Watson and his shipmates attempting to stop Japanese Whalers from killing whales.

Whaling is normally illegal, the but whalers claim they are capturing the creatures for research purposes.

Watson’s got a nice record. The whalers have consistently failed to make their “quota” of captured whales since Watson’s Steve Irwin boat has sailed the seas.

This season, actress Daryl Hannah came along for the ride. Will there be another guest celebrity this year? You’ll have to tune in and find out!

Harry Benson Retrospective Hosted By Architectural Digest

Who doesn’t love a little Daryl Hannah?

Vegetarian, eco-friendly, and cute all in the same package, this actress was recently profiled by Supreme Master TV as one of their “Vegetarian Elite.”

Daryl made the decision to go vegetarian at only 11 years of age because she couldn’t stand to bite into animal flesh, but soon found benefits beyond her personal taste. As an environmentalist, her lifestyle made a bigger impact on the planet than she realized.

“I became a vegetarian at 11 years of age because I could no longer associate the food I was eating from the creature it had been,” she said. “And I just couldn’t gnaw on the flesh of creatures anymore. It grossed me out. The health and environmental benefits turned out to be a bonus. Often I find when I do something from a purely compassionate place, aspects I never considered seem to benefit as well, illustrating how we are truly connected to all life.”

Watch the video to learn how Daryl played on the boys’ soccer team in school, because there wasn’t one for girls!

Whale Wars Captain Paul Watson Says We Eat Like Vultures

Written by Vegetarian Star on Saturday, December 27th, 2008 in Misc Artists and Performers, Reality TV.

2008 Summer TCA Tour - Day 3

Captain Paul Watson is the founder of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and the main man at the helm of the Steve Irwin boat on the Animal Planet series Whale Wars, a reality show where the crew (which includes actress Daryl Hannah this season) sails the Southern Ocean, attempting to stop Japanese ships from hunting whales.

In an interview with Jason Miller on The Peoples Voice, Watson challenges the common notion that humans are true carnivores because we don’t eat our prey raw.

JM: As a vegan, you have characterized those who continue the practice of eating animal flesh as necrovores (rather than the “carnivores” many proudly claim to be). Please elaborate upon this and tell us what you think it will take to raise humanity’s moral consciousness to the point that a majority of people end their cruel and unnecessary consumption of meat.

Captain Paul Watson: Humans do not eat like carnivores. Carnivores bring down living prey and eat it raw and most predators target the soft organs leaving much of the muscle for scavengers. Humans eat dead flesh and rarely eat the organs, preferring the muscle tissue. Most of the beef that people eat has been dead for months and in many cases for years. The meat is disguised with bleach and dyes in many cases to hide the decay and the fact that the flesh is putrid. We are closer in our eating habits to vultures and jackals than wolves and lions.

Read the rest of the interview with Captain Watson and learn about a statue the Dalai Lama gave him and how he thinks our current political and economic systems go against the basic laws of ecology.
