Update: For full commerical video, go here.

She just had to do it.

Not only did Top Chef  host Padma Lakshmi pose for a Hardee’s Thickburger ad, she wrote her disgusting food porn graphic descriptions of her “experiences” as a teenager.

Seriously, this stuff should be R-rated.

“I…started wolfing down bacon Western cheeseburgers after school at Carl’s Jr. The sublimely pleasurable taste of bacon…was further enhanced by its mingling with the barbecue sauce, greedily licked off as it dripped down my teenage fingers,” Padma writes in her latest cookbook, “Tangy, Tart, Hot and Sweet.”

It was such graphic detail of cow and pig devouring that led Hardee’s officials to seek her out for the campaign.

“When we found out Padma was such a fan of the Carl’s Jr. Western Bacon Cheeseburger, she was a natural fit to star in the television campaign for Hardee’s new Western Bacon Thickburger,” said Brad Haley, executive vice president of marketing for Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. restaurants. “In many ways, she was the perfect choice for our ‘Young, Hungry, Guy’ customers because she’s beautiful, she’s a culinary expert, she’s beautiful, she’s very smart, and she’s beautiful.”

Wouldn’t it be funny to have a “Young, Hungry, Guy” campaign aimed at teaching about the risks of impotence from eating artery clogging meat?

On her experience doing the burger ad, Padma wrote:

“I think eating in itself is an act of great sensuality, so all you have to do is point the camera in the right direction. I was excited to be able to talk about a food item that I have fond, personal memories of. I grew up wolfing down Western Bacon Cheeseburgers at Carl’s Jr., as I said in my book. So, I was happy to be able to share that story with a whole new group of burger lovers.”

Hide the children, filter the television channel selections, as the ads start running at the end of the month.

Tim Gunn Gives Thoughts On Cat Hurling Kenley Collins

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, March 23rd, 2009 in Fashion, Reality TV, Videos.

As we told you earlier, Project Runway finalist Kenley Collins was recently charged with assault after she threw a series of items, including a poor cat, at her fiance’s head while he was sleeping.

Tim Gunn of Project Runway shared his thoughts on the matter. Apparently Collins had a history of getting into “cat fights” on Project Runway with other contestants and judge Heidi Klum. Gunn reveals on the television show “Apt. 34” that the clips were edited to make her look better.

“If the audience saw and heard as much of Kenley as I did, people would have turned their televisions off.”

Damn Tim. Tell it like it is!

Seriously, the story is quite sad and we’re hoping Collins get the anger management help she needs to avoid abusing any beings, animals or humans, in the future.

Stephen Colbert Gives Attention To Schmeat: It’s Test Tube Meat!

Stephen Colbert recently did a show featuring test tube meat, or as some would call it, Schmeat.

PETA’s President and Co-Founder Ingrid Newkirk has a couple of cameos.

PETA is currently offering $1 million dollars to the first team of scientists that can develop a method to produce viable, commercially available, lab-grown chicken meat by 2010.

Colbert also features Dr.Vladimir Mironov, a scientist who claims to have the knowledge and technology to produce test tube, or in vitro meat.

“Schmeat,” as Dr. Mironov calls it, is a “combinatinon of sh*t and meat.” But isn’t that what regular meat is already composed of?

Of course, Colbert is full of his usual sarcasm, especially considering he’s such a big fan science.

He love astrology, claiming it’s extremely helpful when hiring employees because, as of now, it’s still legal to discriminate against Virgos.

Meat’s Not Green Says Various Musical Artists

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, March 13th, 2009 in Environment-Eco-Green, Videos.

Meat’s not green and these bands are giving the shout out to let everyone know.

Rise Against, Sierra, Cisco and Swayze, Trivium, Evergreen Terrace, Sky Eats Airplane, TAT, Charlotte Sometimes, Pierce the Veil, Say Anything, Ludo, and Dr. Manhattan all want people to try not to eat meat (or as much of it) because so many resources are wasted getting the animal from the farm to the plate.

Ron White Thinks Eating Cows Will Help The Environment

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, March 13th, 2009 in Comedians, Not So Vegetarian, Videos.

Comedian Ron White welcomed vegetarians quite nicely at one of his comedy shows.

“If you’re here tonight, and you’re a vegetarian, do me a favor: Shut-up!”

The Comedy Central star is extremely misinformed about vegetarians, asking “have you ever seen a healthy vegetarian” and saying that “they’re all kind of yellow.”

At least he didn’t call us green.

Watch as he pokes fun of his friend who developed “beef broth resistance.”

White just doesn’t believe how bad raising cattle is for the environment, even after his friend explained how cow flatulence is affecting the planet.

When asked what he was doing for the environment, White replied, “I’m eating the cow.”

Andy Hurley recently showed off his home on MTV Cribs and opened his fridge to show the world a plethora of vegan goodies, what he described as, “Everything a real American needs to eat.”

Wow. Vegan and patriotic.

So what does this real American Fall Out Boy eat? Silk soy yogurt, Tofutti Cutie Ice Cream Snacks, Amy’s Frozen meals, Earth Balance Vegan Butter, Health is Wealth Vegan Chicken Nuggets, and Vegenaise were just a few of the items the camera caught.

Other veg stars have opened their kitchen to MTV Cribs, including Russell Simmons.

Watch the video and play a “Where’s Waldo” kind of game to count how many vegan items the camera caught in Andy’s fridge. Then tell us how many you found!

Mark Bittman Explains Why Food Matters To Stephen Colbert

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, March 10th, 2009 in Authors, Videos.

The self-proclaimed “lessmeatarian” food writer Mark Bittman recently appeared on the Stephen Colbert show to discuss his latest book, Food Matters: A Guide To Conscious Eating.

Although Bittman is not a complete vegetarian, he has drastically cut back on meat in the past years and is advocating more people do the same, for the sake of their health and the planet’s.

Taking a cue from Bittman’s book title, Colbert’s ever so sarcastic persona jumps in immediately and he mentions that he likes to eat food that was once conscious. Hahaaaa, Colbert.

Bittman says he is a vegan until 6pm, and thinks everyone should think harder about the portions of meat and processed foods they’re eating, versus the amounts of plant based foods they should be eating.

Vocab lesson from Colbert: Industrialized Livestock=robot cow (factory raised meat).

Masta Killa-Jamel Irief Wants African-Americans To Go Veg!

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, March 10th, 2009 in Male Singers, Videos.

MTV Spankin New Music Week 2000

If you know anything about Masta Killa, you know he, like other members of the Wu Tang Clan love to kill-vegetables!

The vegetarian born Elgin Turner, who now goes by Jamel Irief, was recently enjoying a veggie meal at Brawta Caribbean Cafe in Brooklyn.

And you thought RZA was the only one who went by a dozen names.

Irief’s been working on a solo album that’s due in the spring, but while he’s not in the recording studio, he’s been busy preaching the veggie news, like recording a PSA for vegetarianism with his son.

He treated the writers at NY1.com to a meal at the Brawta Cafe (which isn’t vegetarian) to show how easy it is to get meatless food anywhere.

Irief wants to get the message out to everyone, especially those in the African-American community, where there are skyrocketing rates of diabetes and other obesity related diseases, that a vegetarian diet is the key to health.

“We kind of lost the natural way of ourselves, so it made us think differently and it made us eat differently. So of course, that affected my family just like a lot of other black families in the community. So without the proper knowledge itself, its impossible to really eat right,” said Irief.

You can watch a video of Irief talking about his veggie ways at NY1.com.
