Alicia Silverstone's "The Kind Diet" Book Release Party

It’s been awhile since we brought you some good old fashioned food voyeurism.

Since Alicia Silverstone has debuted as a cookbook author, now may be the best time to show you how she eats when visiting New York City.

Alicia  gave all the delicious details to grubstreet.com.

Here are a few highlights so you can take note for your next road trip.

Wednesday, October 7
“I came in on Tuesday and brought food on the airplane. So in the morning I ate the leftovers from my plane ride: a kabocha squash and couscous dish, an M chopped salad with ranch dressing and wasabi sweet potatoes — all from M Café, this amazing restaurant in L.A. When I fly I often grab it to go. I had a little refrigerator in my room, so when I got there I asked them to clean out the minibar and I put my leftovers in there.”

Thursday, October 8
“I brought some miso paste with me. I always bring it when I travel. So I just took a little piece of miso paste and put it in some hot water, and that was my morning miso soup.”

“For lunch I went to Gobo and I had white bean, vegetable, and kabocha squash soup, and I had sun-dried tomato and swiss chard rice-pasta lasagna that was unbelievably delicious. It was lasagna, but they use rice pasta instead of white flour. And I had radicchio salad with chicken and raisins and pine nuts. It wasn’t chicken, but it was fried — yummy, whatever it was. I went by myself.”

Shannon Elizabeth made her very first trip to Candle 79 recently and decided let her Twitter followers know where she was headed.

“Heading to lunch w/a friend to a vegan place I’ve been wanting to try-will let you know how it is! Then rehearsals….”

Luckily, Shannon wasn’t too full and overwhelmed not to Tweet about the experience.

“Lunch was awesome! Went to Candle 79 on the Upper East side-amazing food-met the owners-they’re very sweet!”

Candle 79 is an upscale vegetarian restaurant in New York City that serves as the sister restaurant of the more casual Candle Cafe.

The restaurant that’s been featured in prestigious publications such as Time, Vegetarian Times, Forbes and VegNews was established in 2003 as the demand for good vegetarian food grew.

Now that we know the famous American Pie web cam dancer might be frequenting it more often, we’ll definetely bookmark the menu and try to make it to Manhattan’s Upper East Side soon.

Stella McCartney - Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010

In Gwyneth Paltrow‘s latest edition of Goop.com she’s recommending you try the taco stands in L.A.

“I spent most of last spring and summer in Los Angeles doing lots of work and eating some incredible food…from the new phenomenon of the gourmet taco truck, to the tucked away neighborhood spots to the latest Suzanne Goin…the LA food is quietly and unpretentiously on fuego.”

One such taco truck is the Kogi Truck, which features Koren tacos, including a tofu taco that Kogi says even the meat eaters should try.

“The tofu is pan seared and topped with all the fixings. Hell, it’s so good you should try one even if you’re a strict carnivore.”

Oh, yeah. That’s what we’re talking about!

The tofu taco, like all tacos at Kogi Truck, come with the following toppings.

* sesame-chili salsa roja
* julienne romaine lettuce and cabbage tossed in Korean chili-soy vinaigrette
* cilantro-green onion-lime relish
* crushed sesame seeds
* sea salt
* garnished with lime wedge, orange wedge and red radish wedge

Chipotle Shares Double After IPO

Yay for Chipotle!

The restaurant located in DuPont Circle in Washington, D.C. now offers a vegan meat filling.

The combination of wheat protein, soy protein, and vegetables is marinated in Chipotle’s adobe sauce and grilled.

We’re hoping it’s grilled separately from the real thing.

According to co-CEO, founder, and chairman Steve Ells, the veggie alternative is an extension in the company’s mission to support ethical farming.

If the new veggie option is received well, there is potential for its expansion to other restaurants, but as for now, it’s only available in D.C.

Which means Obama no longer has excuses for his burgers runs.
