McDonald’s Agrees To Cage-Free Eggs

After years of debating with animal welfare groups like the Humane Society, McDonald’s Corp. has finally agreed to use some cage-free eggs for its restaurants.

According to the Chicago Tribune, McDonald’s will use one million cage-free eggs, but it doesn’t specify the time period those eggs will be purchased or whether the practice will begin immediately or be phased in.

Guy Fieri and his crew made a stop in Boulder, Colorado this week to film an episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.

The Food Network star tasted samples from veg-friendly Boulder restaurants The Sink and Foolish Craig’s. Located in the University Hill neighborhood, The Sink is known for its burgers and pizzas and served Fieri “The Buddah Basil” pizza featuring pesto tomato sauce, tomato, tofu, spinach, fresh basil, and artichoke hearts.

Pita Pit Spicy Black Bean Patty

In the words of a chain of restaurants featuring fresh, made to order pita sandwiches, “There’s a new protein in town.”

Vegetarian Star can only say, “Yum, yum and triple yum!”

Pita Pit, which has over 100 restaurants in major cities and college towns across the U.S., has put a vegan black bean veggie patty on its list of already friendly veggie pitas like the falafel, the garden and the hummus.

Based on a poll from its professional inspectors, AAA applied its famous 3-diamond rating system and named its 13 top picks for eating veg on the road (if you’re not lucky enough to be a local in the city).
