Russell Simmons Wins Honorary Difference Maker At Business Awards

Russell Simmons was recently honored with a Stevie Award at the American Business Awards at the Mariott Marquis near  Times Square in New York.  Simmons won the honor of being the first person to receive the honorary Difference Maker Award.

With so much bad news about the ethics in business these days, it’s refreshing to hear someone who focuses on principles as well as profit. During the awards, Simmons took time to discuss the importance of keeping one’s values when offering solutions in the business world, which may require a little bit of creative thinking.

Ricky Gervais has joined fellow actor Owain Yeoman in the fight to convince British store Fortnum and Mason to remove foie gras from its shelves.

Gervais has written a letter to officials at Fortnum, asking them to stop selling the delicacy that is obtained by forcing ducks and geese to overeat so much their livers swell abnormally.

Vegan recipes have stolen the spotlight in the USDA’s Healthy Kids Contest.

Tasty Tots and Central Valley Harvest Bake were the winners in the popular choice award and the dark orange and green vegetable categories, respectively.

Tasty Tots replaces white potatoes with yams and chickpeas for a baked version of the traditional tater tot. Central Valley Harvest Bake pairs quinoa with butternut squash and red bell peppers.

Rich Roll, named one of the “25 Fittest Guys in the World” by Fitness Magazine, fuels his ultra-marathons with nothing but plants, with the occasional indulgence in vegan junk, potato chips being his biggest vice.

Roll, an endurance athlete in his 40s, has written an ebook, Jai Seed, that contains 77 pages of recipes, color photos and original artwork by his wife Julie Piatt for vegan dish ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The King's Speech
