Frank Iero isn’t the only vegan musician who can strut around in his vegan MacBeth shoes.

Missy Higgins did an interview with MVids where she wore hers too. If you don’t know about how Missy makes her tours carbon neutral, you should watch below. At least have a look at her shoes!

Premiere Of

Shortly after the Madonna-Guy Ritchie split, we learned that Madge set forth some pretty strict rules about what the children could and could not do while visiting Guy, including only eating organic, vegetarian, macrobiotic food.

Now Guy is paying her back, but it might be the children who are suffering in the process.

As part of the deal for getting to crash at Guy’s UK mansion he previously banned her from, she must behave-no temper tantrums or bullying the staff. Fair enough. But she also must allow the children to eat a “traditional” Christmas dinner of ham and turkey!

For a parent who’s been insisting on organic, vegetarian food, this has to be her worst nightmare. Not to mention the possible physical reactions that might happen to the children when eating greasy pig and bird after months of eating wholesome, organic vegetarian food.

Not to worry, though. Madonna is already planning her next move. As soon as she arrived in the UK, a source said the first thing she did was met with her divorce lawyer.

It’s probably safe to say this Christmas dinner deal will be annulled by next year.

Throw Snowballs At Madonna, Mary-Kate And Ashley Olsen

And you thought it didn’t get any better than a Wii Fit.

The people at PETA have invented entertainment for all the gamers in mind. The online game, PETA’s Holiday Snowball Game, allows you to throw snowballs at fur wearing celebrities, such as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who are presented as their satirical counterparts-The Trollsen Twins (Hairy-Kate and Trashley Olsen), Madonna, and fashion designer Donna Karan.

You get 10 points for ambushing Madonna, 25 for Donna Karan, and a whopping 50 for taking out Mary-Kate and Ashley with any part of Frosty you’d like. And if you advance to the next levels, take shots at Colonel Sanders and Sarah Palin.

Warning: There are innocent non fur wearing civilians you shouldn’t hit, and if you do, you lose 50 points. They don’t have names, but you could call them “The Pleather People.”

Even better than the family football bowl during the holidays. Let the games begin.

Obama Move Over: Leona Lewis Shares Person Of The Year

Written by Vegetarian Star on Thursday, December 18th, 2008 in Female Musicians, Female Singers.

2008 American Music Awards - Press Room

Time magazine has declared 44th President elect Barack Obama as its 2008 Person of the Year. With the impact he’s made on election history, he’s probably deserving of it.

However, singer and “X Factor” winner Leona Lewis, has taken the crown in another, perhaps less known, person of the year contest held by the UK division of People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

“Leona Lewis is admired for her beautiful voice, but it’s her kindness to animals that makes her a superstar in our book,” said PETA Europe Director Robbie LeBlanc.

Leona, a strict vegetarian since she was 12 years old, refuses to even wear animal products, such as fur and leather shoes. She’s so passionate about this, she’s talking with various suppliers to design her own line of vegan shoes and bags.

She made quite a statement earlier this year, turning down over a million dollars by refusing to sing at a Harrod’s department store seasonal sale opening because the store sold fur products.

The “Bleeding Love,” star is joining the hall of fame with other vegetarian celebrities, including last year’s winner,  fashion designer Stella McCartney, the daughter of ex-Beatles Paul McCartney.

Congratulations, Leona! We look forward to learning how you’ll be leading vegetarians in the upcoming year.

Ah, the female vegan rocker edition!

They both love vegan food and rock and roll. Granted, Chrissie has an advantage, since she can have her chefs whip up something gourmet and vegan at her restaurant and all. So who would you…

Carrie Underwood “In” For 2009, Jessica Simpson “Out”

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, December 17th, 2008 in Female Musicians, Female Singers.

Conde Nast Media Group's Fifth Anniversary Of Fashion Rocks - Show

The end of the year marks the making of lots of lists-resolutions, top or greatest events or people, and trends to look for in the upcoming year.

Carrie Underwood made PETA’s list for what’s “in” for 2009, and is obviously a stark contrast to her opposite of what is “out”, “Jessica Simpson.

Sure, they may both be beautiful blond babes who sing their hearts out, but as a vegetarian since her teens, Carrie’s got it going on where it counts.

Both have been considered, “sexy,” but Miss Underwood has won the title of Sexiest Vegetarian Alive. Still, waiting for Simpson to be crowned “Sexiest Carnivore.”

Lastly, Carrie definitely makes better judgement in fashion. We suspect Pamela Anderson will never leave Jessica alone for wearing her Real Girls Eat Meat t-shirt.

Congrats to Carrie. Better luck next time Jess.

Read the entire list to see who and what made the cut.

Chain, Chain, Chain: Emmylou Harris Says Only Fools Chain Dogs

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, December 16th, 2008 in Female Musicians, Female Singers.

Art Of Compassion Gala

Country music star Emmylou Harris extends her activism for animals far beyond her plate.

She runs a dog shelter in her native state of Tennessee and performed at a Best Friends For Animal Society event designed to raise money to help four legged creatures in all sorts of ways, including getting them adopted.

Now, she’s teaming up with PETA to remind everyone to get their pet spayed and neutered and invite them in your home instead of keeping them chained outside.

You can listen to Emmylou’s radio PSA if you’d like, and be reminded that for some of us, respect for animals goes beyond deciding not to put them in our mouths.

Lisa Loeb Ate Corn Dog Without The Dog At Texas State Fair

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, December 16th, 2008 in Female Musicians, Female Singers, Food & Drink.

Icons Of Music II Auction At The Hard Rock Cafe New York

For 15 years, singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb thought she was allergic to corn. Turns out she wasn’t and she wanted to celebrate. So she ate a corn dog at the Texas State Fair-minus the hot dog, according to Dallas News.

The vegetarian best known for her hit song in 1994, “Stay,” is getting married soon, but is not naming the lucky guy.

She’s a Texas native, and she dressed up as Sarah Palin for Halloween, but her views don’t mirror those of the party in which the current President who shares the same state as her stomping grounds belongs. Her fiance went as Joe the Plumber!

While it’s great Lisa knows she can eat corn, we just can’t help but wonder if she could have celebrated with something other than a hotdogless corndog, which probably resembled a mere hush puppy. Like maybe corn on the cob? Seems similar to ordering a Big Mac at McDonald’s with just bread and toppings.

But who are we to argue with a Brown University graduate?
